2 domain names, aesthetically integrated as 1 website

I run 2 related but different websites. I would like to redo the aesthetic so that the sites look the same, or at least similar, and even make it so that they are both linked to from the main menu.

This way, I will present our readers with what looks aesthetically like 1 site, even though they may go back and forth between the domains a bit while browsing. Basically, I just want to make navigation easier for people by making the sites look similar.

But I'm wondering - is this is frowned upon at all by Google? I'm very grateful for any help you can give. I'm happy to explain more if I'm not being clear.

Well if you just look at warriorforum, they have the main domain, the one we're on right now and a support section on a different domain but with site wide links pointing to it. It certainly doesn't look like google frowns on warriorforum.

Just out of curiosity why do you want two domains?

Thanks for your response. I don't really want to have 2 domains, but I started 1 when I was brand new to internet marketing and then I realized I wanted to cover a slightly different topic, too, so I started another.

I've thought about bringing the 200 or so articles from the first domain over to the 2nd domain and 301 redirecting them, but I would be worried about losing my good SE rankings on all of those articles.
