There have been some changes to the way Google now lists websites; make sure that your homepage is Search Engine Optimized and possibly increase your backlinks. Linking your website to this post would be smart so that we could give you more personalized feedback.

Did you run any automated software for mass back-links ? That's one major reason for google to sandbox your website.

I believe there are plenty of factors while you do SEO. Using backlink services may or may not be a good idea which totally depends on other key factors.
Here are a few you need to write down on a peace of paper or simply your notepad file
        1) Age of Domain
        2) Keyword competition
        3) Content - onpage optimization, content quality (check via copyscape)
        4) Backlink relevancy
        5) Backlinks from Authority sites
        6) Backlink rate (per day/week/month)
        7) Sitemap, meta tags, robots.txt (if present and correct)
        8) Outbound links
        9) RSS Optimization
        10) Server/IP/Spam/Block check

Though there are many other factors, but these are the ones you need to answer yourself first.

You will find almost answer to anything in this great forum. I suggest you start looking for answers one by one.

If you are new to SEO, this is the right place for you to begin with. If you are expert, you will get your answers from even more experienced warriors here.

Don't hesitate to ask, I am sure all warrior here are very helpful. As for the website disappearing from searches, I suggest give it a week, it may be a simple Google Dance. Till then - research.
