For a specific keyword, when it seems you'll be pouring over the pages forever?

I tried some free tools and they're all rubbish.
#find #google #page

What Courtney said and also be sure you are not logged in to Google when you run your checks.

Firefox / Rank Checker is what I use.

I use an Iphone app called SEO Ranking. I have found it to be pretty accurate when I compare the results to other more robust tools.

Plus it only costs a few bucks and I can check my rankings anywhere.

Ranktracker is great but for a very basic and easy to use one - free moniter for Google is pretty decent

If you use Firefox, Rank Checker works well for something that's free.

You can use PageWash.com and then use proper Google TLD. For example:

If you want to check rank in Google.com:

    1. Open pagewash.com
    2. Write Google.com in textbox
    3. Search your query.

If you want to check in Google.co.uk, then write Google.co.uk in text box.

    This works well.

If you are going to check via the Google search engine, make sure you clear your history, cookies, etc. to avoid personalization.

I use a custom script that checks rankings for over 350 keywords all the time.. and also shows Adwords CPC value, AVG profit/mo (though mostly incorrect), exact searches, has a link where i click and it shows the page where im at, shows when i last moved, last checked, and a nice chart of position over time... i tried many things but this just satisfies all my needs!! and its free

I use sescout, which is nice. Scroogle is great too, but does anyone know if it only uses the .com version of Google? Semrush is a bit expensive, but it lets you check in .uk .ru, etc.

Agree, semrush is just a bit expensive, but it's main function is researching and showing competition. Looking where're you in google is additional option. Of course, there's no need to subscribe for semrush pro account, just only for looking where are you in google.

razorico, except it's limiting the number of queries you can do per day. 10 per day I think?

Not sure which tool to trust the best either. They are often showing a little bit different results in terms of positioning of a website on the SERP - sescout, semrush, scroogle, etc.

I think Google Webmaster Tools is the best to find this info out. However, I think it also gives you a ranking with paid ads included. So naturally your results will be No.3 but overall its more likely No. 6.

Sometimes you may not find your site at all, if you are not in the top 1000, as Google is only limited to the first 1000 pages
