Question About The Google Dance And Backlinking

I understand what often happens with new domains and the Google dance. What I am curious about is do new pages on established domains also go through the dance? I have a site created early this year that has been through the dance, and it has many high ranking pages. I am about to add some new pages to the site, and that's where my questions come up.
People also say to be careful about backlinking efforts early on. Does this also apply to new pages on established domains?
