What is Your Bread and Butter, Go To Method for Getting a Few Quick Quality Backlinks to a Post

This is kind of a beginner type question. But I actually know many of the ways of getting backlinks. I just wonder what people think is the easiest and most straightforward and effective when you only need a few good ones to move a page up in the rankings.

So I found a good keyword with some good traffic and very low competition. I made a post on it. The competition is so low that they almost all have zero backlinks. I can definitely rank in the top couple spots for this. I probably only need a handful of backlinks. In fact, just hours after posting it, I'm already at the #20 spot without having done anything.

So I'm wondering once the post is up and you just need a few good backlinks to rank highly, what would you do to get those links? What's the most basic bread and butter way you'd go about getting a couple of backlinks that will raise that page up in the rankings?

If you want to do it yourself, I'd go with a couple articles to EzineArticles and GoArticles, plus a post on HubPages and Squidoo. Throw in maybe a few forum links and blog comments, you can easily get up to 10-20 dofollow links this way - But it's a lot of freakin' work.

I prefer to just use a backlinking service. You can get PR3+ or .edu or .gov backlinks from Fiverr for $5 bucks. I don't think it should be your only linking strategy, but it can get you a good start.

Thanks. Article marketing is the first thing that comes to mind for me too. And the whole reason I posted this question and specifically said "quick" in the question is that it takes a long time to write a whole article just to get one or two backlinks. I hoped there is a quicker way when you just need a couple good ones.

Say a page just needed 5 good backlinks and you didn't want to spend hours writing 4 or 5 more articles. Is there a quicker way? I'd rather not buy them in a case like this either right now.

Do other people agree that even though it's work, the best idea is to do Ezeinarticles and GoArticles and so on? If you did, would you write one and spin it or write several by hand? And also aren't those sources now not as good because of Panda?

Or do people recommend other sources and if so where would you quickly find the best ones?

If you're publishing good articles, they'll get syndicated - which will fetch you far more than just one or two backlinks. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen.

The PR of the actual pages where your articles are published has not changed. Remember, your article goes on its own separate page (NOT the homepage). Before Panda, those individual pages had a PR0, and they still do.

You may want to try some guest blogging. That way, you'll wind up publishing your content on pages that have a much higher PR than the article directories do. A (free) service like MyBlogGuest can help you find guest opportunities that are available right now. After that, it's similar to an article directory; you'll have a resource box at the bottom that links back to your site.

Or, if you have a niche that applies (and a day or two to wait for them to approve your article), try American Chronicle. They're affiliated with a variety of different online newspapers and magazines, so stuff that gets published there gets syndicated very quickly.

Throw some social bookmarks in there mate. It's a good starter before you write articles or create hub pages. Their fast, cheap, and add a "social" element to your backlinking campaign.

Nicole: Thanks for the reply. It's good to realize an Ezinearticle or GoArticles piece may get me more than just the one or two backlinks from syndication (though it's duplicate content so who knows how much they'll all count). And guest blogging is also a good idea. But again the entire point I'm making is that writing all of these pieces is a lot of work just to get a couple quick links to a page that barely needs any to rank. I have other things I'd rather spend that kind of time on. I chose this keyword because it has almost no competition at all so I'd rather not have to do all that extra writing if not necessary.

LeeroyGreen - Social Bookmarks are a lot more on the lines I was hoping since it takes only a few seconds to do them. But my issue there is that when I check my backlinks in Market Samurai, I don't think I ever see any of those social bookmarks show up as backlinks. Do those even really count for raising your rank? I am sure they are good for quickly getting indexed. But do they really raise your page's rank, especially since a lot of them you can't even use your anchor text at all?

Oh and Nicole what I meant by Panda is that I thought in Panda one of the main things was Google stopped giving as much weight to links from article services. I didn't mean that the page rank of your article's page changed. I thought it was just something they added in their algorithm where certain article sites are just weighted less because they're being overused. Or am I misunderstanding what Panda did?

Actually, it's not duplicate content. Duplicate content refers to content on your OWN website. So, if you had the same article on 2 pages, it would be duplicate.

But when you get stuff syndicated (when it's republished on DIFFERENT websites, all with your links attached), it's not considered duplicate content. In fact, syndication is a great thing; it's what all of the successful article marketers are striving for.

Just pointing out the difference because it's a very commonly misunderstood topic

Panda is Google's attempt at devaluing sites that have subpar content. That's why the article directories that allowed spun junk, keyword stuffed junk, etc. lost their rankings - and, thus, why places like Ezine Articles went through and cleaned out alot of the garbage. It wasn't that they were "overused"; it's that they were being clogged with junk.

    Hi Builder,

Here's a couple things for you.

    1. Post classified ads:
    craigslist.com
    backstage.com
    usfreeads.com
    Kijiji.com(ebay classifieds)

    2. do a bloggerblog commenting on your blog post and related information. Use your keyword phrase in the title and once per paragraph.

Include a link to the post in the body.

    3. Do a youtube video on the posts topic and link to the post in there. Use keyword phrase in the tags. You can also use tubemogul or traffic geyser to distribute your video to multiple sites.

    4. Do press release

    5. and the final and most awesome tip of all,
Convert your blog posts to audio and explode your links.Go to odiogo.com
Enter your blog or blog feed into it and it
will turn every post into an mp3 audio.. Once
they are done.. Submit them to podcast directories.

That should move you up a few notches, but you gotta do the work.

    Good luck.

    Steve

Izaya, how do you do 1k+ social bookmarks and 500 articles quickly, since this thread was about how to get quick links for something where the competition has almost none? And also does that many sudden links to a post not throw up red flags for Google?

StevenJacobs, what is your profile backlink list? Where does it come from? Are you talking about forum profiles? And do you set up profiles with backlinks to your main page and then forum profiles with links to specific posts? I need to get quick links to a particular post, not to my main domain, to rank it for some specific keywords. And forum profiles won't give anchor text a lot of times so is that really good if you're aiming for a particular keyword fast?
