Hi guys,

Here's the case:

Okay guys, actually, I have been creating backlinks from .edu and .gov sites by creating forum profile then add my links as signature and my website. Then what I am unsure about is on what will happen if I'll create another profile with the same links. I hope that's clear?

So what will happen? is there any? or none? sorry. I just don't have the knowledge

Would appreciate your words.

Thanks.

I don't get the question. Do you mean what happens when I link back to my site from a .gov or .edu?

Also how can I put my site on the "same" .edu and .gov site? If ones a .edu and ones a .gov, they are 2 different sites.

Sorry for the confusion, what I mean is that, what will happen if I Link back my site to the same list of .gov and .edu sites over and over again.

I don't get the question either.

Are you asking what will happen if you put links on your site to .gov and .edu?

    Nothing.

If you are asking what would happen if you put links on a .edu and .gov domain, that depends. I doubt any .gov is going to give you backlinks.

    Guys he is asking:
What would happen if he continues to get backlinks from the same .edu or .gov domains? For example if each time he writes a blog post he gets comments from those sites linking back to it.

His site (#1) .gov (#2) .edu (#3) if #1 is listed 25 times on #2, and #1 is on #3 25 times is that better then #1 being on #2 1 times and #3 1 times. Hope this helps.,,,,

for my 2 cents, I think it is best to be on as many sites as you can and as much as you can. If you are on the same site 25 times well I think thats great, but don't waist to much time on the same sites. the most I would say is 25-50 times, anymore then that is a waist. This also's deppends on what your nich is, the .govs and .edu's mite be the best way for you. p.m. me what you are going after and ill try to help with what I can.

You mean other than the further crappification of the net? Well, one would hope that the forums catch it and ban your account(s).

  • You are probably wasting a lot of time because most profile pages are not ever going to be crawled. You have to take the time to get them indexed by posting on the Forum as well. And many sig file links on good forms require multiple posting or time in order to get them to stick. Most people are too lazy to do it right so they just waste their time.

Also any link that you place has the potential to leave a foot print for Google to filter as they see fit.

So if you are going the profile link route your best bet is to find high quality forums and actually participate by adding real value so your links stick. And a link should always generate traffic in and of itself.

EDU and GOV sites are often authoritative, but they are also the kind of sites that have a lot of maintenance and changes from year to year... especially EDU. So the site structure changes and your links disappear.

You are wasting your time leaving the links one time. You will only be wasting your time further by doing it a second or third time.

.edu and .gov backlinks carry no extra value. All you are doing is creating a bunch of PR 0 and PR n/a backlinks. Why limit yourself to just .edu and .gov sites? You can crap up .com's, .net's, .org's, .info's, etc. and get the same SEO benefit... which is virtually nothing.
