    Yes Domain age plays a good role but it can't be said that by having old domain you can rank well in search engine it's a plus point to have domain age.

    Last year I hire a Link Builder to build links for my 8 yr old site which is not ranking good in Google but after 1 month of link building it moved to 2nd page on Google. I do believe that Domain Age helps you rank your site.
