Where is the quality?

Nowadays the rule is "quality backlinks vs quantity backlinks".

What is a "quality backlink" in your opinion? Do you think that a web 2.0 pyramid can "simulate" this quality?

Thanks.

I've also wondered what the definition of a 'quality backlink' would be because I've struggled to 'find' them if I'm honest. I think my definition would be a completely natural link on a relative site made by a third party who is intentionally sharing the link but obviously you can't make these yourself...

    1. High pr backlinks
    2. Relevant backlinks for your niche.
    3. Backlinks that you put time into, not something like a random thoughtless blog comment you make without even reading the post.

quality back links can be defined in many ways such as:

    having a good alexa
    high PR
    authoritative sites
    Dofollow links
    relevant to your niche
    having less outbound links
    etc

In my recent tests and past experience the Three markers of quality are

      PR
      contextual
      low outound links.

I have seen PR2s and PR 3 beat the junk out of PR4 links if they have low outbound links and by low outbound links I mean less than 15.

By contextual - do you mean merely that the links appears IN the stream of the content, as in the middle of a sentence or paragraph vs. appended or pre-pended to the body of content?

        This is contextual ...

Hi I like to ramble and prattle on about >>> backlinks <<< because they are the key to an effective high ranking in google's search engine. These are best done by having the actual backlink in the flow of the content - as opposed to stuffing htem in the front of the content or tacked onto the end like most automated tools force you to do.

        This is NOT contextual? ...

        How To Cure Acne

Here we have an example of a backlink tossed in front of the content in a seemingly automated fashion. I will then merely stuff another link at the end of this tripe-like post just for the sake of example of what a non-contextual backlink would look like. That is if I understand what M. Anthony's definition of a "contextual link" really is.

Quality backlinks I think may come to those of high quality related niche linking to your site. Web 2.0 pyramid perhaps can be helpful, although haven't tried the techniques.

In my opinion, web 2.0's can get a website pretty high. If you're keyword is high competition, then obviously you will need more, but they are still definitely better than spam links from blog comments or forum profiles.

With today's tough competition..'quality' si almost meaningless...go for High Quality Links.

    Get HIGH QUALITY BACKLINKS

As for me there are 3 classes to which high quality links come from...

Yahoo Class - links from DMOZ, SmartPages

CNN CLass - links from CNN, BBC, Fox, ABC...etc

Business Class - Think of any professional organization. Think of your local chamber of commerce. Think of the government Web site that lists all the vetted contractors. Yes, your tax dollars are busy at work paying for links to business Web sites.

Of course, these sites won't link to just anyone. They'll only link to bona fide members or professionally certified or accredited organizations' Web sites. That sort of excludes most of the online retail store Web sites, doesn't it?

Well...The directory sites often have categories for online stores, Internet resellers, etc. There is no reason not to get those kinds of links.

Quality backlinks is not by nature but we have to try to build any link quality link. As by posting with quality and relevant content , on high pr & relevant site one can get the quality link for the site. And if one has provide the meaningful data , then people will attract to click on our link with a view to find more useful. And this way we can get backlink without much effort.

But there are some business niche where it's too difficult to obtain natural backlinks.

In this case what kind of backlink can create the same effect of a natural, high quality backlink?

A sign of a good quality link is if you are likely to get direct traffic through it. Usually if you are receiving direct traffic then the site is a popular one, and the link is in a place which has good visibility

Obviously there are many other factors to it, but that is a quick guide for link quality
