For Adsense, how many pages?

Being somewhat new to Adsense I am torn I hear guys saying Oh I have a 5 page site making great money, but with all the Panda slams I think maybe that is not the best strategy.

In a new niche I am starting (new for me) I have spent the better part of a month slogging through 1000s of kws and top 10 analysis on Market Samurai.
Finally
I found some gems. At least 20-30 great kws , very good traffic, and the backlinks to the page? laughable. less than 100 certainly on every kw and on some its like 5 backlinks. I was shocked but pleasantly surprised. There are some good ones out there but damn are they hard to find

All these kw phrases pretty much stand on their own. They have related phrases that I could interweave pages about but.........the related phrases . those kws are brutal competition, and I really dont want to target them.

All of the 20-30 kw phrases do follow a general theme though, but the general theme if I took out that one common word? would be a bit of a waste to rank on. By itself it means nothing really.

For example lets say the kw phrases are
New Car Discounts
Food item Discounts
Auto Insurance Discounts.....................the common word discounts

discounts by itself would be kind of useless to rank on, its too general

Thats the type of structure the kws follow, when they are paired with the special word they mean something but the special word by itself I really dont want to try and rank for

Should I just put a site with 30-50 pages?
or cherry pick the lowest of the low competition phrases and go after those first until they are ranking high>?

Adsense has me confused a bit as far as site strategy is concerned

What I have been doing is start with 4-5 base keywords.

1 will be your domain, and 4 additional ones will be pages of content.

What you can do is with those 5 keywords, write 1-2 articles of content to support them. What you are doing is just adding content to the site, but you're internally linking to them. These are used to improve on-page seo and your internal link structure.

Once you are ranking in the top 5 or top 3 for your initial keywords, what I do is add on ONE additional keyword at a time. I figure why add 5 more when I can do 1 at a time and do it right and do it effectively.

Rank for that 1 additional keyword, move on to another one.

Keep track, make a txt file with your keywords. Use rank tracking software to keep tabs on your site.

I usually will build a site out to about 10 pages, or 10 keywords.

This is what I do, and by no means what YOU should do. I like this plan, and this is my plan that I have put into action.

    Good luck!

Thanks that sounds at least logical, so hard to get a handle on how to structure this, I even bought the 100k Adsense Tut for this, which is great but with so many topics to cover I cannot recall them discussing this important one at length

ok so then how many pages does the site eventually have after you are done building it out?>
One of my competitors, well he is targeting words in my niche but he chose to go with a specific niche of the niche..............I can spot his type of words a mile away now, I dont even research them.................he must rank 1,2 for 500 kws, and all of his sites have adsense
that guy has to be making a killing because these kws are heavy traffic, no joke

      As many as you want.

If I made a site with 5 pages and it's earning.. lets say on avg $3 a day. Thats cool. that's $90/month. I could start again, rinse repeat. But why? It's making $3/day.. why not see if I can make $6/day? When it gets there... why not shoot for $10?

Sure you could say okay my site is targeting 10 keywords now.. I should move on to the next one, but if you don't want to.. dont.

I have the A100K ebook as well and it's amazing, I have been putting to use a lot of what is taught in it and I love it.

What it comes down to is do whatever you want, you keep asking "how many pages should I make my site?" Why don't you find out yourself?

Get off the WF and DO WORK. hehe

How many pages? Hmm. If you are about to apply for adsense and asking about how many pages would be required for qualifying an account, I would say 20 unique, and abiding to the rules, pages.

But if you are thinking of how many pages would you need to earn big with Adsense, I would say it depends. You could have as low as 5 pages optimized for keywords with exploding traffic yet low competition. Let's say, each month each keyword brings you 100,000 unique visits and you are paid premium CPM for the target, you could earn $5K amount with that excluding the revenue you earn for each click.

Keep in mind your not stuck with that exact same keyword phrase all the time, you always have keyword variations that will help promote your money pages.

    New Car Discounts
    Food Item Discounts
    Auto Insurance Discounts

    New Car Mark Downs
    Food Item Mark Downs
    Auto Insurance Mark Downs

    Low Cost New Cars
    Low Cost Food Items
    Low Cost Auto Insurance

    New Car Promotions
    Food Item Promotions
    Auto Insurance Promotions

    New Car Deals
    Food Item Deals
    Auto Insurance Deals
This short supporting page keyword list took me less than 5min to find on Google Search.

Those related keywords will boost your money pages strength in the SERPs, with proper internal linking.

Google knows all those keywords (red/green) are all related to each other.

    [Tip]
For supporting pages/keywords go to Google search & look at all the existing sites for your root keyword, to find keywords related to your root keyword (discount).

Look at the competition SERP Descriptions + Titles, you don't need to visit the sites.

Hey you know that makes perfect sense, and I am sure google automatically knows those words are all related and actually interchanges them sometimes if it cannot find the searched for content. Now you have me thinking a whole new path

Thanks for all the handy advice, makes a lot of sense.
How about this one question please. On the CpC? I know this topic is taboo, LOL I am not asking someone to tell me their CPC, I am just wondering how to determine the accurate one to go by.
the one on Google adwords , seems highly inflated and is purportedly for Adwords advertisers on Google.com. The one on the contextual Tool (thanks Jeff) is a lot more conservative, but is that one accurate?
Or do you guys use SpyFu? which one do you go by

One more question, (by the way thanks all the tips and moral support)

Say you pick New Car discounts as the main page
you write 4 articles to support that

Those are on blog posts I assume. and the pages for the blog posts point back to the main page with what anchor text? and the main page points to them also>?
