I agree that time is an investment.

But I totally disagree with the fact that you said "no".

There are many ways to build traffic for free without spending a dime online.

Here are a few techniques I use regularly.
- Yahoo Answers
- Writing Articles
- Writing Blog Posts to Rank in Search Engines
- Classifieds
- Facebook Pages
- Social Networks
- Social Bookmarking Sites (like Digg or StumbleUpon)
- Ad Swaps (I've personally never touched it)
There are many more and if I had more time (it's 5am and I need some sleep), I would probably post a few more.

But really there are hundreds of methods you can use in order to generate free traffic to your website. You just need to use them properly and take action.

Nothing is free. Even if you use your time to get traffic you are going to need to pay money for hosting every month and for at least one domain name. However, for a small investment of $5 to $15 a month and $12 for a domain name for a year you can get a blog up on Wordpress, use free plugins, write content, submit it to your blog, then submit it to free article directories, comment on other blog posts in your niche with a link back to your blog, become active in the forums in your niche with a signature to your blog, and you will have traffic coming to your site for nearly nothing.

I generate loads of free traffic just from blogging. Set up a Wordpress Blog and center it around a niche and update it daily. It doesn't take long to start generating 100's of hits per day.

  You can own an INTERNET business without spending anything. Not even for hosting. Yes, we all know it here. just use a blogging platform and update it with fresh contents everyday. It's like a community in every blogging niche. Join the communities in your niche such as groups in social networking sites, other popular blogs, etc. Make comments with value and people will welcome you to leave your site link in the comment.

The only thing I can recommend is that you go to No Hands SEO
and download the trail on the top of the page. This software is amazing! You get full version for 7 days then you can download on VPS or another computer if you can not do that then you have to buy if you want to continue using it. Good luck!

Social Bookmarking, pinging your site, getting/adding free backlinks, Blog commenting, Forum Posting, Guest Blogging, setting up web 2.0 properties pointing to your site, article writing, creating a youtube video, video distribution, offering a free information product in a high traffic forum, offering an information product or a related service on Fiverr.

For generating traffic to your website/blog, you will need either of this - Time or Money. If you can do the promoting part yourself then you will need 'Time' else you will need 'Money'.

Create great content that people find useful and want to read.
Social bookmark and ping your posts.
Write articles for the article directories with link back to your site.
Create articles on Web 2.0 properties that link back to your site.
Network with people on social networks.
Do some guest posts on popular blogs.

You can generate absolutely free traffic from different forums, social media networks. For instance, in FB there are many different fan pages or groups where you can be active. Also there are some free directories and article directories, where you can add you blog or your articles with your link.

I can't believe how many people are saying no. I think the BEST and MOST TARGETED traffic you can get is Organic Search Engine Traffic by ranking highly in the SERPs.

Yes, you can pay for backlinks, and Automation software and so on. But at the end of the day, if you have no money then it can be done for free. Put your time in, rank for some highly searched keywords with not too much competition and you can get free traffic for a long time.

Ive been using flikr for some great free traffic and its been converting well for me. Tons of free traffic out there but blogs have always been a steady source for me.

You can write article and put it on Scrib.com and once it approved get the URL ( website address) and put it on digg.com. You will see you get lots of traffic with this
method.

Since you have plenty of time... just work out the lists suggested. Worth the effort better if you are sending all links and traffic to your own site / blog.

Doing SEO and getting ranked in the search engines for highly-targeted keyword phrases for stuff people are looking for (on-page and off-page, article writing on free sites that point back to a particular page on your blog), doing forum commenting, blog commenting, using social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, and Stumbleupon, using social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

There are tons of FREE traffic generating techniques that work effectively. Here are just a few that I've tried and tested and give me great results continually...

1.) Article marketing - Ezine Articles ( create keyword rich articles )
2.) Article syndication - give your article to a high profile blog or website
3.) Facebook - Create a LIKE page (FAN PAGE) that deals with your niche (post daily - interact with like minded individuals - ask people to join)
4.) Create your own blog - Use wordpress for best SEO results
