    iPage is only 'OK'

I have extensive experience with many of the top hosting companies, and iPage would be lower on the list.

    Price, they aren't that competitive
They don't offer cPanel, which I much prefer over what they have created/use
Setting up domains is a pain, you need to add the domain and then setup domain pointing yourself. Not the easiest way to add domains to your hosting and a totally unnecessary step
Crazy upsells - After signing up for hosting you'll get literally 10-15 additional UPSELL pages to go through that try and sneak in unnecessary added services
Telemarketing calls - After signing up, I then received a sales call trying to sell me on the upsells that I just denied during sign up, that's simply annoying and bad business
Slow servers - The servers ARE maxed out and usually slower than most of the other shared hosting providers

    That's my $0.02

Most hosts create their own rankings.
For the most hosts on top, they are the ones who build their own rankings, and on the others rankings they will rank lower. Base on reviews, HostGator should be on top of all the chats but you will still find hosts like Godaddy and 1&1 with a lot of negative reviews still ranked on top.

I recommend using HostGator over iPage too. I really prefer using cPanel instead of what ipage uses, vDeck.
