Best wordpress site structure for SEO?

Hi,

I'm planning to build a number of affiliate sites using wordpress, but before I build anything, I was looking for some advice on the best structure to use for SEO purposes.

I believe the option would be between creating categories and then posts within each category, or using pages.

Could anyone give me advice on what they have found to be the most effective structure to use for good rankings?

      Thanks, I knew about all in one SEO already, but I was under the impression that the way the site is structured can also affect ranking, so I'm trying to get information specifically about how the structure of the site affects ranking.

    The main thing whether you use pages or posts is to use a good permalink structure.

    Most people use

    /%postname%

    or

    /%postname%.html

    or

    /%category%/%postname%


    As for choosing pages or posts, it depends on the nature of your site. If you are going to be adding new content all the time, then best to use posts. If you are going for a more static website, then pages are probably best.

    The main difference between posts and pages is that pages don't have a rss feed (unless you install a plugin) and pages are not part of a category.

    I guess there is not a huge difference in functionality when it comes to maintaining a blog which is powered by WordPress. You can even find hundreds of top ranking blogs which still use the traditional URL making structures, not the search engine friendly patterns which are today powered by plug-ins and add-ons. Blogs too are like other websites which need to be powered by quality links because merely adding contents to them will not be enough to get top search engines ranks.

    The All in one free add-on which can easily be downloaded from within your control panel is even more than enough to create your pages the way you like, with title tags and page structures which would be liked by Google and the other major search engines. Some webmasters like adding their official blogs names to the ending parts of their pages title tags while many others like to create each page title in a unique way, and both systems seem to be functioning in a great way today.

    Hi Tom

    There isn't a "best" way. But there are various good ways to push your BEST content into the TOP, using Posts-Pages to achieve your goal.

    You need to avail it with your content. Different sites need different approach. If you're having 15-20 pages, say targeting 3 keywords, you can create 3 pages (1 per keyword) and then create Posts to push internal backlinks to these 3 Pages.

    SEO wise, it's my personal approach.
