How to know when a site will never rank again

I have quite a few blogs on my own domains, and really don't do anything on them worth calling black hat. I build them all on the same template I have used for years, and use the same formula of keyword density, h tags, ect.

Most of them do ok in the rankings, but quite often one will go from page one, for it's main keyword, to page 100 to 700 or beyond. There seems to be no reason for it, except that I may not have added new content in a few months.

Will sites like this come back, if content and backlinks are added, or are they a waste of time. I check them, site:mydomain.com and they are still listed.

Thanks Glenn

it is entirely possible that they may come back. You could try adding some new content and that might do it.

I have had similar things happen enough that I never count a site out, unless it is de-indexed. Then I just move on.

They can definitely rank higher again. I have few websites that are moving up and down too. Just add more unique content to website and build some quality backlinks.

Google Panda is putting low quality websites to lower positions, and high quality websites to higher positions. Click HERE to read more about Google Panda.

Considering that, you should post quality - unique content on your website for best results.

This is very obvious... every page lose its ranking if your don't update it.

Since, the fall in ranking is very steep so other possible reason could duplicate content.

I've had a few pages like this. Some, no matter what i do won't budge from the high rankings - only to return to a super high num 1 or 2 spot months later - for no reason at all!

Others, come back within a day or two of adding unique content and building links.

And sadly iv'e got a few that still have never returned to better rankings - the total lost causes.

I have not really seen a pattern I can pinpoint - have not had that many pages do this. So at this point, I would say your best bet would be to add new unique content every day - or every other day and start building some backlinks - only time will tell buddy.

    Goodluck
