Footer Links in SERP descriptions?

I've always noticed that some SERPs have footer links at the bottom of their descriptions... why is that? is there a benefit to it? and if so how do we do it in wordpress?

is it a plugin or some kind of code snippet we add to the meta description?

It seems like it could be advantageous to certain pages to have anchor text links at the bottom of the description...

It also seems like for the page that you do get ranked, a potential way to offer a "similar pages" results to other content they may be interested in, and also share some of the link juice... no?

    He's serious.

Those links (which are new btw), "breadcrumbs" and "site links" are enhanced serps displays you get when Google thinks your site is awesome.

A couple of my sites have them some or all of them. While it's pretty much NOT in your control, you must at least have an XML sitemap. The breadcrumbs in particular also have a certain format you have to follow if you want your site's navigation in the serps. Details of that is provided by google at their Help pages. Search for it.

Building quality back links to pages other than your homepage or article pages also help. The site must also be old to get them -- at least 12 months in my experience.

They don't have to 12 months old if you look at the structure of the site.

In my experience with a wordpress site, ensure you are using a dynamic .xml sitemap (one that updates every time a page is changed) and focus on your url structure and title tag structure.

Make sure each your relevant sub pages are indexed too.
