Market Samurai worth it over Google Keywords

Hey everyone,

I'm currently considering making the purchase of the Market Samurai keyword research tool. I've been using Google Keywords for a bit now, coupled with Copyblogger's Scribe tool and it's been going decent at this point. However, I'm trying to take the next step in terms of traffic and I'm curious if MS will help me get there.

So my question is, is Market Samurai that much better than Google Keywords, or is it a negligible difference? If you've purchased MS, do you think the return on investment has been worth it?

Thanks for your time,
Rob

    Hey Rob
As far as MS is concern, it well worth the price if you know how to use that information, i use both, i have ms which give me lots of information about any campaign i run through it, apart from this google keyword tool can do same kind of job at certain level.

the major difference is Google keyword tool can only give keywords but with market samurai you can go ahead of keyword research and do competition research as well, you can find content too if you are planning for autoblogging, apart from that ms saves time in tracking ranking, and extracting more data about any project you set up.

apart from this i have created one video to get maximum from google keyword tool you can see this video here.

In terms of keyword research Google Keyword tool isnt bad at all, but I like MS mostly because of the competition research module. It can also be done manually if you do not have the money to invest, but it is much easier and quicker with MS. And Of course MS has a free trial, so just take the trial and see for yourself.

If MS was free, I would ask for a refund.. For keyword research, it pulls its data from the Google Keyword Tool, which you can use for free.

The competition module is weak at best. You can get pretty much the same thing for free with Traffic Travis.

As far as analyzing domains and backlinks in the competition module, you can use Open Site Explorer (free) and SEO SpyGlass (there is a free version, but the paid version is even better), and do a much better job understanding your competition.

I do not agree that the SEO competition function on Market Samurai is worthless or even weak? Traffic Travis free version I cant even get to pull up backlinks , I have found MS top 10 Google analysis to be EXTREMELY worth purchasing the product for

Market samurai kw research module however is very slow
I use the google kw tool for this, since its about 100 times faster than MS and it uses the same database

But Top 10 Google competition analysis? I challenge someone to find a paid or free tool faster or better than MS for this

I personally don't think it's worth the cost. It's progressively been getting worse and worse, too.

Plus, if you look around, there's free alternative for pretty much everything MS can do.

Show me a free program that pulls up the top 10 google competition with PR site age, Onpage SEO factors, backlinks to page, etc At a glance?

And dont even start on SEO quake, it cant analyze backlinks, it doesnt show onpage SEO factors,
I need something that does it fast, not 20 mins per kw, and MS takes me about 30 secs per kw

More important than something that does it fast is something that does it right. Market Samurai sucks for analyzing competition. Nobody needs to know how many backlinks their competitors have or if they are using the keyword in their title tag. The onpage factors like title tag, h1 tag, etc, are not of value in analyzing your competition because those factors can be easily matched. So you really do not need to know if other websites in the top 3 are doing it or not.

You need something that tells you the quantity of quality backlinks your competitors have, so that you can analyze if you can match that or not. MS doesn't do this. MS doesn't even tell me if the links are still alive or not.

Open Site Explorer (free) and SEO SpyGlass (same price as MS) are superior in every way for doing competition analysis.

Majestic SEO is more useful too.

Like I said before, if Market Samurai were free, I would ask for a refund.

At $97, you are wasting money.

          Open site explorer is garbage
I have 500 backlinks to my resort site
          OSE said I have 32
Market Samurai which you claim is such a piece of junk found 490 backlinks , why is that? if MS is so bad for backlinks?
OSE might be able to track outbound links etc of the backlink urls but what good is that if I cant find 90% of the BLs to my site with it?:

I tried analyzing one of my competitors site it said sorry it cant find any backlinks, LOL

          Now Seo
          Spyglass is good
However, you have to enter the urls one by one
Who has time for that? would take you 20 minutes to do one kws backlinks

as I said I want a quick and dirty list of how many backlinks my competitors have. MS also shows me the complete list of BL urls, the PR of those BLs and the complete list of anchor text for the backlinks. Thats way more than good enough for me for a first glance quick and dirty look at competitors backlinks strength.

if they only have 5 backlinks to the page , BINGO that tells me I want to target that kw

deep backlink analysis yes there are plenty of free tools that do that but that comes later

You don't have to enter all the URLs one by one, if you don't want to Go to New Project:Expert Options -> Create Projects Based on the Following URLs and enter all the URL's you need, one per line

The Project:Expert Options section has a few more cool options:

    - you can import your backlinks from Google Webmaster Tools (by uploading them as a CSV file)

    - and you can also enter specific backlink URLs to be analyzed

SEO spyglass is a nice backlink tool and some people on backlinks forum say that majestic is to be added on to seo spyglass in a month to complement yahoo site explorer

till november 1, you can try the Enterprise versions of SEO SpyGlass and Rank Tracker, official keys here, Rank Tracker review here

if you want to pay for tools, don't get Google Adwords based tools - it's a waste of money, pay for a mix of nice features found nowhere else but in that tool. Great review of major SEO tools here on SEO Book

I would definitely choose market samurai over google keywords. It automates alot of the process when selecting potential keywords once you learn how to use it. And the online training is pretty extensive.

While I love market samurai I've just started using SEcockpit as well. It doesn't have all the features I've grown used to using with market samurai but it returns results sooooo much faster.

I purchased market samurai yesterday after testing it for a couple of days. I liked it.
The only problem I am facing is: when doing SEO competition analysis, I get a 10 websites.. However if I open Chrome and google for the same keyword, I get 10 websites that a couple of are different than what Market Samurai analyzed.

I emailed them and I am waiting for their response..

Never mind, solved. Market samurai is great, so many tools all in 1, and price is fair.
