I don't seem to understand my PR is 1. My competitors are 2 & 3.
I have more content and more backlinks then one of them. I just don't understand I want my google page rank to go up so I can know I am doing something right! I know page rank doees not matter that much but it would be nice to see I also used good amount of keywords in my website such as aluminum die casting and stuff like that.
#competitors #higher #mine #page #rank

PR isn't necessarily dependent on the quantity of backlinks, but also quality among other factors. But like you said PR isn't as important as rankings in the search engines. Moving up in the SERPs is much more important at least in terms of getting traffic

The best way to start unraveling the mystery is to compare your backlink profiles using a service like MajesticSEO or Yahoo's Site Explorer. Compare the quality of links your competitors have in comparison to yours.

I'd guess they have a higher number of high PR links coming into the pages with higher PR.

I look at these types of items in Market Samurai using the SEO Competition Module. You can just click the down arrow beside the website and do a PR Anaylysis and see what their link profile looks like. It gives you a quick idea of what you will need to do to outrank them in the SERP's and why they might have a higher PR than you.

Quality backlinks is JUST ONE of the contributing factors when it comes to PR. Domain age can also account on a site's PR.

Its not about quantity, it is quality of your links that matters more. If someone has higher PR than you, it means they have higher quality backlinks.

In addition to checking the backlins, don't forget to take some of those keywords( I use semrush for that because it's give me very quickly all data I need, but I think here each tool will be good enough).

PR is a funny thing. Don't wait for your PR to increase cuz it could take ages.

Just forget about PR and if it just so happens that your site gets a higher PR one day, then rejoice!

It is not just about quantity of backlinks PR can also be influenced by quality of backlinks. A few relevant links from trusted sources will rank better than a bunch of low-quality unrelated backlinks.

Don't worry about PR...it only applies to Google. Just focus on the content and getting quality backlinks and then sit tight and pray It takes time for the SEs to index the links and recognize your hard work. If you've put things in order and others haven't, sooner or later you're going to get better rankings.

    Hi matrixv,

First of let me tell you that PR works on your web site friendly structure and also back links. but in both the case you should have friendly web design web site with less use of JAVA scripts and also quality, relevance, and high PR back links. If your web site is being lacking any of listed aspect then you are loosing your PR.

PR is not depends on number of backlinks. It is depends on quality of backlinks. Your competitor may have good quality back links.
