I was doing a small research past couple of days, so I just wanted to share with you all, so that my time is helpfull for all of us.. Hope it will help at least to some of you.

10 ways how to promote your site:

Don't try to find any sequence, these methods work for all of us differently depending on your niche.

1) Forum marketing - (read the forum rules before you start posting!!)

2) Through Giveaways - (your giveaway needs to be high quality)

3) PPC "pey per click" - (get some information before you start your campaign, otherwise you will spend loads of money with no results)

4) Stumbleupon - ( good way to get tons of traffic, I am still fighting with the quality of the traffic)

5) Social Media - ( lately this is a big thing, it is not so easy as it looks like, so get information from as many sources as you can)

6) Localy by SEO - ( if you prheps run a business that is in the decent size city someplace, you can use SEOand target it for people from your town.)

7) Bloging- ( you can find a person with a good blog in your niche, contact him and get him/her to write about you)

8) Article Marketing - ( if you weren't born as a writer, have somebody to write for you, post the article to the directories and if you will find the ways how to do this marketing it will give you tons of traffic)

9) Fiver - (find a good offers "gigs" that will help you with your promotion, there is tons of creepy once, but also if you will be searching long enough, you will find good one.)

10) digg - ( yeah, well what to say, place where you can share anything)

There are also many other ways how to promote your site, If you know please share with me and others.

Although Social Media covers a few of your points, it is also good to mention that not only does it cover just Digg and StumbleUpon, you can gain a lot of traffic through Facebook, Twitter, and other web 2.0 sites like Squidoo and Hubpages.

SEO doesn't have to be limited to local keywords only, you can target long term global keywords fairly easily to gain lots of recurring traffic to your website.

Agreed. In fact, I get more traffic from Twitter than Reddit than I do from Digg and StumbleUpon. Twitter is a great source to get targeted traffic if you know what you're doing. Do not spam your followers, keep them engaged and posts insightful tweets they want to see.

      Chris.

    2) Through Giveaways - (your giveaway needs to be high quality)
I agree 100% with this one.

I watch a small website that I don't own, but they are pretty transparent with their site/data.

Right now this site is doing their regular monthly free giveaway prize, the prize is a physical product that retails for around $200 on Amazon.

You have to optin to their email list + comment on their sites promotion page.

I signed up for their feed to keep track of promotions/contest, they started early today & already have 1,000+ comments on their promotion page, they'll have at least 2k (they always do) new subscribers. That averages out to $0.10 per new optin.

They do this once a month, with smaller promotions about once a week.

I'm sure they are doing well, I've been following their feed for at least a year.

Guest blogging could be pretty good way but don't forget that it could be very hard to succeed in some niches.
