Your site was possibly hacked, but your host sounds dodgy as well. Change over to a more reputable host like hostgator.

If the posts were deleted recently what you can do is a "site" search like site:www.yourdomain(dot)com and all the pages of your site that are still in the index will show up, you can then click on the "cache" of each URL and retrieve whatever information you can by copy and pasting.

If some of the content is gone, you can check out the "way back machine" and hope they have atleast some of your pages in their index.

I agree with Hustle you can recover most of your data using way back machine which is a great tool for hacker's victims to recover the lost data, a few months back same thing happened to me, and i used the way back machine and recovered most of the data, good luck hope you too get all your data back.

As Eleva8 said, your site might have been hacked.
I think you can still recover some, if not all, posts using wayback machine. Simply go to the website and put in your site URL. It will show all the dates whenever your site was indexed in the archive. Retrieve it from there.

    Hope it helps,
    Chris.

  • It's also a good lesson to back everything up from time to time. A lesson I could learn, myself. : /

BackupBuddy is supposed to be a good program for general backups, but it's not hard to do a full FTP transfer and database backup, then zip them both up into one file and stick them on a Dropbox or 4Shared account. Probably a good practice to get into every month or two if you're posting frequently.

I know this is too late for you but I recommend installing the Bulletproof Security and Wordpress Database Backup plugins on your blogs.
