What's Your Single BIGGEST SEO Secret? Here's Mine FREE

Hi all,

I was thinking today... there's so many motivational threads on the Warrior forum these days that people seem to have forgotten what it's all about:
Main discussion forum: Where we talk about making money.

So I thought I'd make a good ole' traditional thread where we get down to some 'brass tacs' of making money online.

I've made the majority of my money online one of the more traditional ways... Creating content rich websites (not blogs), promoting them, waiting for the domain to age and finally (hopefully) receiving an auto affiliate income every month.

The biggest secret to this niche business model is, of course, what rank you have on the search engines. And so constantly you strive for better free rankings on google through backlink building, on page optimization etc.

So for those of you who are in the same 'business' as me, (probably the vast majority of Warriors) I'm asking you today...

What's your biggest secret to achieving higher rankings? What's that golden nugget that works everytime? I mean specifics, what keyword density's worked best for you? What's your favourite method for building google backlinks?

To start of this hopefully valuable thread, here's mine:

On page optimization. Getting backlinks (one's that google counts) is HARD. And so I try to do as little of it as possible. Here's how:

Internally, link to your most important pages (the money makers) more often. I've had amazing results with this.

Example: One of the pages on my sites was on page 4, once I added a link to that page from 7 of my top PR pages, it rose to 3rd on google for that Keyword in just 2 weeks! Bearing in mind that this was an old page which had been a previously non mover on page 3 for over 2 months.

Don't forget file and domain names. In my experience, they play a huge role in your site rankings. Example? Search gas4free on yahoo (A once very competitive term) on yahoo and there's my 1hour to make, 1 page site at number two!

Unless you plan on making that particular website a million dollar one (maybe you do), then don't place so much emphasis on short, memorable domain names... Go for SEO as it'll be well worth your trouble.

So, there you go. Simple, but they really work. Has anyone else got any secrets they'd like to share? Blackhat or Whitehat I don't care!

Just please, no fluff, no filler, and no 'just take action' cop outs or general 'submit loads of articles' type answers.

And why should you reveal your biggest secrets to a bunch of strangers? I dunno, but if every does, think about what you stand to gain in return - One secret for countless other pieces of gold!

Cheers,
George Montagu Brown

Great post George, here a couple of my "little secrets" (not all of them mind you

    1. Get your main keyword into your pages title. Make sure its in the first part of the tiltle, where it has highest relevance.

    2. make sure the keyword in in the first sentence or paragraph of your webpage.. They is and old one, but still works..

    3. Get links with your keyword as the anchor text. This is not hard.. Becuase everyone should have their own , small (75-100 blog farm) that they can get links from..

You did say BH as well as WH didn't you?

    4. Reciprocal links still work very well, no matter what the guru's tell you. They can take a site from obscurity to the first page within a week.. I'm not talking about sending out 1000s of emails asking for a links.. That never works, becuase most people who get the link don't know how to put a link on their website even if they wanted to..

Just target those sites that are setup to exchange links. These sites run link exchange software such as Reciprocal Manager etc..

I use the following google search string, to find RM sites :

www.google.com/search/q="If you use a program such as Reciprocal Manager then please input this information"

A search at the time of writing reveals 3,400 sites waiting to exchange links with you..

Works very well, if you have the right software (custom stuff I wrote, means I can exchange over 100 links and hour) work s good

    5. Pinging your site with PinGoat.com, Pingler.com etc works well..

I guess thats enough for now, and lets see what oither nuggets people can reveal..

    Take care and great post

Wow man, thanks for sharing your secret with us, seems like a pretty good one. Thanks.

BTW well I really don't use SEO a lot, just for few of my projects, but what I usually like to do is create "miniblogs" around my main site.

So for example if my site is a .com about "Dog training" I try to build something like 10 - 15 miniblogs around that same niche and using the same keywords all of them using sites like Blogger, WordPress.com, Hubpages, Squidoo, and adding around 3 unique articles all of them linking to my main site, this gives me some really cool results.

    Thats it! no big secret.

    Cheers!

      It works well..

Give it a go, not much to loose, especially if all the blogs are on FREE hosting such as blogger, wordpress.com, blogsome etc..

      Works well..

      Take care

Blogging everyday like it was my religion is
my secret formula to having over 100 front
    page rankings in Google.

They aren't high competition stuff and each
one only brings in 3-5 visitors per day. But
when you multiply 3-5 x 100 it starts getting
    pretty nice.

Or better yet 500-600 of them that somebody else pays for bandwidth and host :-)
