Google Is Indexing Facebook Comments Now

In case you haven't heard, Google recently announced that the Googlebots can now read Facebook comments and any other platform that uses AJAX or javascript dynamic content.

The comments can now be indexed by the Big G. What do you all think about this from an SEO standpoint?

Looks like I will be taking this to the SEO lab.

Yeah, I saw this on Twitter last night...

Interesting move... For Internet Marketers it could be a good thing, but I fear it's going to be swamped by spammers pretty quickly.

Privacy wise it's an interesting move as well - I assume only public profile comments will be indexed? I'd hope so anyway.

    Thanks
    Eleanor

I think that google has always read through sites that are important enough, but don't actually show up on the serps. I'm pretty sure they take notice of many things that will never be seen by you or I, ever.

I just hope there's measures to where users privacy will be the sole purpose. Too much private stuff is aired out on facebook between people as it is, and indexing that info on google isn't something I'm too keen on. But I hope it's only the public users.

Anyways could be good, but could be bad. We'll see.

Yeah this is huge! I'm glad Google realizes that working with Facebook really just helps both businesses. But spammer will be huge too. Oh well spammers are twins of SEO.

This is going to create new motivation to inject tons of spam all over, although it will require a lil more work then regular comment spam. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new WSO soon offering ways to take advantage of this new revelation.

Well, its a very good and big step... But I am just wondering whether Google has started crawling other files in AJAX and JavaScript or its just facebook comments.
