I've answered about 15 questions in the past 6 weeks and used my link. They were all relevant answers, not spam. I've had a yahoo answers account for years. So far, only one backlink has stuck in Yahoo (nothing on Google), so I stopped bothering with it.

YA links are nofollow, so theoretically they have no SERP benefit. In reality that might not be completely true, but I don't think it's worth spending your time trying to get a large number of links from Answers.

For direct traffic there is potential there though.....

Quick note: if you decide to use YA to generate traffic directly it's best to post HQ answers that are actually helpful - people are much more likely to visit your site then.

YA is great for link building. I don't care if its nofollow, i've had results just by using yahoo answers and saw the serps score for somewhat competitive keywords. There is a link juice and it gets passed. you have to be really helpful with your replies, however. take your time.

You will get no follow links . So no direct benefit for SEO. But it is very good source to promote your content and reach to those people who are looking for information that you have in your site.

Well I am kinda new to all this but I just checked my Webmaster Tools for one of my sites and I have 4 links to my site from Yahoo Answers. They are all from answers I have posted. If they are no follow how are they showing up as links to my site in Webmaster Tools?

Am I reading Webmaster Tools incorrectly?

I have been working with Yahoo Answers for quite a long time, but I havent spotted any SEO benefit. I use it to get targeted traffic and YA really delivers it.

Against every one talking about the "no follow", i belive it helped me.

My site went from #9 to #4 after i started posting answers in yahoo. The only thing i did besides yahoo backlinking was to add more content to the site.

BTW, the traffic generated by yahoo to my site is more than what i got from going to #4 position in google...

I don't see any benefit from Yahoo Answers when it comes to SE rankings. But for traffic, I think it's also a good source.

I believe, backlinks from Yahoo! answers are nofollow.

But, just like any other forum Yahoo! answers gets you traffic if you are participating in a good way. It is more reputed community and thus your valuable comments can get good results for your website.
It can increase your traffic as well as reputation of your website.

But do not spam the community.

Yes, Yahoo answers may create a traffic towards your blog but it is too much hard to maintain.

Post link in yahoo answer, but be cleaver. Post some answers without using any link. Because when you continusly promoting a same link regularly in one day. Your account will be blocked both forever and temporary.

    Regards,
    Zaheera
