Set to Quit Business Due to Bad SEO

I really don't know where to begin my story from but i will try to be brief. My name is John and i reside and operate my business from Nigeria. Honestly, i feel like the biggest loser ever and wondering how i stuck to something that wasn't working for me for eight years. Yes, you heard me right. I have been in online business for years and haven't made up to $400 for that eight years. If i wasn't lucky to have a full time job how would i have coped with the web hosting, IM tools like AMR and SB that i own.

My problem now is i have lost my job. The number one reason why i was looking for an alternative income on the internet has finally cut up with me. I have always feared losing my job and have committed so much to my online business working four hours every day for three years straight and have only grown grey hair from pressure.

Just last two months i started earning about $23 dollar monthly after been able to rank for two of my keywords on Google. Some other ones where on the 2nd, 3rd page and where looking up. I tried affiliate marketing and discovered that to be successful i need opt in page which means getting aweber or getresponse but can't afford that for now and also can't afford paid traffic due to lack of resources. So i focused on ad sense and created a couple of site that could have generated me over $2, 000 monthly but i can't rank high even when the keywords are relatively easy according to Traffic Travis and Google keyword tool.

Paypal is another major obstacle spoiling everything that i can have done when i attempted offering services on Fiverr and others, i discovered i need to have paypal and that doesn't work from Nigeria.

The recent Google update took away my $23 to $0:confused:. My site got lost in the SERP while that of my competitors remained.

The link building strategy i use are, i write an article of 500 words and get them on my blog first and then syndicate to article directories using AMR, i submit the same article on my private article network, FTS, web 2.0 and some press releases. I also do blog commenting manually because i can't use Scrapebox due to proxy issue and can't afford that, i participate in forums using anchor text in my sig.

Pls is there something that i am doing wrong.

I don't have a job now, my fund on my debit card can only serve my hosting and domain renewal needs till Jan 2012.

I just don't know where to begin from........... I wish i had spent my entire time building business in the real world, i know by now i would not be worried over my state.

I will give out my site at the end of this year and burn my compute as well. Enough is enough!

Wish you all success even when it can't come to me.

Link building strategy is not only the basis to have success in online business and regarding SEO campaign aside for the sake of rankings in search engine we must know how we convert successful visitors for the main site.

You made $400 in EIGHT YEARS?! Are you kidding me?

Do you know how easy it is to make money online? How can someone go so long without success.

Join Fiverr and do simple stupid tasks for $5. You'll make $4 each time you complete a gig. I'm sure if you have 20 or w/e the max gigs you can have up at a time, you can make ATLEAST $8-12 a day. You'd be up to $400 in no time.

      Totally agree with d0rhk...

Since you don't have full-time job right now, how about joining Fiverr, do some simple task for $5 dollars and who know you might gain knowledge in this activity and when you discover new things while doing this stuff, you can apply it to your own site, improve your link building and surely your SERP ranking will go up.

It appears you didn't read my thread properly. I setup an account on Fiverr few days ago and hit the brick wall again after discovering that i need a Paypal which does exist in Nigeria.

I was thinking of offering article distribution service, blog commenting, and keyword research on Fiverr but i will need a Paypal. Don't know what to do next , got fed up of the whole thing and decided to quit.

Never mind John. many times people don't read the OP or they wouldn't have given the Fiverr suggestion. Personally I really think you need to concentrate on a job. Anything real with online takes time to build up

Honestly I didn't read the whole post. I was too shocked to find out someone wasted 8 years of their life making $400.

Update your resume, print out 50 of them and go walking around to local businesses/places you can work. Wear some nice clothes and speak professionally. Clearly IM isnt working out for you, so get out there and do work.

Stop wasting money on IM products. Go work at a stable company for a few years and get back on your feet.

I would say PM me and I'll help you build a quick $10/day website but you NEED money to create a website.

If you can't afford proxies, aweber, your in the wrong business. You have to invest money to make money.

I think that's where people fall short, your never going to make money when your afraid to spend money.

IF you don't have money, there's not much you can do.. Find another full time job, it shouldn't be too hard.

Why do people make promises they can’t keep? Come to think of it, it’s not even up to 7days he vowed to take me under his wing which he did but left me flying off the sky and crashing harder than I should be.

You should consider freelancing! Sign-up with Elance, verify your account, fill out your profile, write a few of their tests to spice up the look of your profile and start applying for jobs! It might take a while but once you establish yourself on that site you can earn a decent living.

Elance pays via direct deposit and check, so you shouldn't have a problem with payment.

The jobs on offer vary, but with your IM experience you will be able to secure jobs as an article writer, blog commenter, article spinning, research, guest posting, link builder, and various other IM related projects.

Elance is great, I know because I was involved in freelancing a while back and I earned a few thousand dollars on Elance over a 6 month period and I only did part-time. But with anything, the onus is on you to make it work!

That's not the real reason why you backed out. I told you my plans to get a new adsense account setup on a different domain, IP and PC which you said its a good idea if my reappeal didn't work.

Anyway, the site is up and i have a few IM tools, as a matter of fact, i have ranked on the first page of google for keywords harder than the niche you recommend. With this EDM and the rest, it should be a piece of cake.

Adsense is not everything! There are better ways out there. Karma was actually misunderstood by YOU.

            A big thanks anyway.

              No offense to you,

a new IP, domain, and PC is not going to get you a new adsense account that's going to last long term.

Also, if ranking a website was that easy you would have made over $400 in the past 8 years.

If you do by chance open up a new adsense account contact me and I'll help you as I promised.

This is just my opinion so nothing right or wrong here. I just found that IMer that failed is not lazy guy who just want to refresh earning page to see their revenue increasing or doesn't want to invest their time for their business but because they don't have someone to share or ask to of course "someone" here has to be the person that already succeed in IM business.

I recommend to start in Adsense since its the easiest way to make money online and I suggest you to visit Pat Flynn blog just find his blog on google, I also learn all of IM things from his blog.

    Good luck

warriorjohn1444. Just last week and for a bit of fun, I put myself up on fiverr to edit articles for $5 a pop.

Within 2 days I had a 'gig' from a bakers that wanted the English corrected. It took me 90 minutes to rework it as the English was terrible. But he loved it and I earned $4.

So it's not a lot of money for 90 minutes work. But it's $4 I now have that I didn't before. Try it! People are crying out for help. Go take a look!

Seriously, $400 in 8 years (yikes)?

Just a heads up, you don't need a website to earn money online.

All you need is an internet connection & some skills.

Heck my brother earned over $500 his 2nd month with simple 1min. Youtube/Adsense video tutorials on a single channel.

Five years ago I setup a blog on blogspot with zero articles, all downloads, I earned Adsense money from day #1.

That same blog earns decent money on auto-pilot for the past couple of years (zero work for at least 2 years now). It took a lot of work up-front to build hundreds of pages by hand. Still, I have no doubts that blogspot will keep earning me Adsense money on auto-pilot as long as blogspot exist.

Get creative, you don't need articles to earn money online.

Agreed, you have to put in a lot of hard work up front when trying to earn a living online.

The trick is (If you want to call it that), you have to find ways that earn you money online while you sleep at night, which is the lure for most people & it should be, because it's the best career in the world IMO.

You have to plan ahead "If I do XYZ today, will it still earn money this time next year?" otherwise your just spinning your wheels getting nowhere fast.

No matter what you do or learn about IM, just remember, the ultimate goal is targeted traffic. How you get targeted traffic isn't important, thousands of sources exist.

Hello guys, its good to be good. Inthemaking here voluntarily decided to help out of nothing to get me making $10 a day or more. And good news, there is also room for $$$$$$$ expansion. Together, we have found the niche i am to go into and he wants to create a site for me, all i need to contribute is 3 to 5 content and he launches the site and do the back linking while i watch how he does it.

I'd consider getting a real job to pay the bills for the short term, then focus on a long term IM plan. Set yourself goals and targets, how much you want to achieve monthly etc.

Learn from your lessons. Only invest what you can afford at the start and over time it will grow if you pick a decent niche.

Big ups to 'InTheMaking', good man.

Yeah, $400 for 8 years? Pretty much next to impossible. Some of my friends here who were internet addicts earns like $200-$400 a month. They don't have Affiliates, Adsense, clicksense, and a website. They also can't write content properly.

Are you sure you're doing it properly?

adsense account. I was happy and never tried opening the account for my
    friend again.

Thirdly, I mostly use firefox for my browsing purpose but i discovered that
each time i use explorer to open my account after the day i attempted to
create the other adsense for my friend, i started seeing "There is a
problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate
presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or
intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this
webpage and do not continue to this website". So i stopped using explorer
    to open my adsense.

Those are the three things that i think could have caused problem for me. I
even set my adsense account to only publish ads on my site using
the "allowed site" just because i don't want any problem. Could it be
because i unhold my money to come to me next month?

I completely understand how important it is for guys to maintain
professionalism in what you do, this is my first time of having this kind
of problem, i was set to quit internet marketing in january because the
money i have in my account have been accumulated for two to three years and
all i have till date was just $168 which of course would have helped my
hosting needs and the rest. But here i am starting from nowhere? I beg you,
give me a second chance and let me know where the problem came from.
32_SuspiciousData: I saw this some few days or weeks each time i visit
Google. Google.com wouldn't show me my request but it would rather take me
to some information that says traffic something. I don't know where this is
coming from and have asked question about this. You can check my traffic
source for where my traffic comes from, it's not inflated besides I don't
know how to that neither do I know if it exists or how one can get pass
    Google software.

Seems to me that this problem runs much deeper than what we see on the surface. You can try every strategy you like, but unless you change your "INNER" game, you will continually confirm your belief that nothing works. All these things like getting your account banned, losing rankings, etc. all contribute to that BELIEF.

I'd advise you to take a step back from internet marketing all together and re-evaluate your intentions, and goals. Become very clear about what you desire to create (and don't say money because you don't make money by chasing money).

Let me ask you a few questions?

Are you providing REAL value to your customers or just creating spun rehashed content?

Are you providing REAL solutions to your visitors that actually HELP them?

      Do you have a plan?

Do you know why you even need the money, and how much you need? Be very clear about the numbers.

The internet landscape is changing quickly, and it's becoming even more challenging to make money from the web by just putting up content, and building some links and hoping for the best. You have to build strong foundations by build a strong social presence, building GREAT content, getting quality backlinks etc. Start to do these things right, and you'll be well on your way.

So like I mentioned, before going any further, I'd suggest really becoming very clear about your intentions to do any sort of business on the web. Reflect..write...do some deep INNER work. The outer success will follow once you get this part right.

Oh and if you don't know where to start, check out mentors like Robin Sharma, Tony Robbins, Eben Pagan. They help you work at the level of the mind/psychology, so you can set your self up for massive success.

Hope this helps. All the best.

A few days with inthemaking and he gets his adsense banned. Inthemaking - NO WSO from you for awhile I guess? .

Seriously though theres just something off about this whole situation and trying to open up multiple accounts for a "friend". I like helping out people like the next guy but its an internet board. You don't know anything about who you are helping. OP I believe in a higher power and right now I just don't think Im is what you should be doing now. Even for those that don't believe in a higher power its just not working out for you and you need to log off and find something to make you some money in Nigeria.

It looks like our friend doesn't have a lot of "luck".

    Man, man, man.

I don't like Adsense. I do like Clickbank.

Brother. Take a niche on Clickbank that has a good gravity. A product which is attractive and you should buy yourself if you didn't it was just crap.

And then, go out, build links, work on 1 project each, one site each. And you will definitely make a decent amount of money.

Then make an exact product yourself and earn 100% of the commission.. Then you are settled my friend

Go out and find some hungry nigerians to work for you... I really think you should leverage your power.

Learn your friends, familiy and other "smart people in your country" and let them work for you. Pop out powerful websites each day with a huge team.

Your situation can benefit you... You only have to know how to play the cards right..

John, I'm curious about Nigeria. What is $10 a day worth in Nigeria? Is it a good living? I know in some countries, $5 is considered a good day's pay.

I hope things work out for you.

The former bank where i work as a teller pay me about 50, 000 naira monthly which is equivalent to $312.5. Thou there are other allowances of about $100 that comes once in three month.

As for your question, making $10 a day is very ok if you want to live a relatively comfortable life with your small family but no cars and other luxuries.

I am not married and still reside with my parents, so $10 a day is a big income for me.

Infact, if i get my feet off the ground as planned, i can effortlessly hire cheap labor here and pay them $200 monthly each and virtually take over the internet and transform my one room office in storey building housing hundreds of staffs. Thou at this level, the income will be slightly increased and according to your status.

One thing i love about Nigeria with making money online is, the conversion rate gives me an upper hand, the sluggish economy gives me cheap labor. It should have been a win win situation for me but i will like to blame myself for my woes.

I feel really bad for you buddy, I just hope that you weren't clicking your own ads or asking others to do it - they're a clever bunch over at Google and can detect this 'fraudulent' activity.

You should consider Amazon product review sites as a source of income, it's relatively easy to make money from if your research is done in the right way. I'd love to help you out but I don't really have the time these days.

Also why can't you use Paypal in Nigeria?

After my adsense account got banned, i sincerely begin to look at multi tasking. I setup a blog at powerfulmindset.com for a friend specifically for amazon associate but he thought adsense should be on it and i made the mistake of opening an adsense account from my computer, and IP which could have contributed to my disabled account. Unfortunately, he didn't complete the articles as i instructed him and it became an abandon project.

To cut long story short, it actually opened my eyes to opportunities amazon associate has to offer and since programs like clickbank don't operate in Nigeria it made it a better option. But i was scared of affiliate marketing because it comprises the bulk of my unproductive 8 years.

Paypal does not include Nigeria in it's list of operating countries. You can try the sign up page and see if Nigeria is listed. They probably want to control fraudulent activities from my countries.

MaverickUK - I am interested in learning how to make money with amazon affiliate. All i want is the information and no other help to rank it or something.

It's really easy. Simply choose a category on the left menu, choose a sub-category and so forth until you're in a category that takes your interest. Check items with 4/5 stars and 10+ reviews in Google Keyword Tool - if it has 1,000+ searches go to your browser and do some competition analysis.

Competition analysis can consist of checking for number of targeted backlinks, PR (don't take too much notice of this. Also check title, meta description and H1 for keywords - rinse and repeat until you find something that has lower than 50-75 targeted backlinks.

There are some Paypal alternatives you could try, but what you did to rank well, you could try again, for other keywords, have a look at what your competitors are doing that you are not doing and take it from there

    Hi,

Well, there are lots of ways to earn money over the net. Have you tried mylike.com? or was it mylikes.com? I'm not sure. Also, there are sites that are open for free-lancers. specifically for writers. Check out for them.

Another thing is the linkemperor site if you're good at seo.
You can also try to apply for some companies over the net and ask them if you can work in a home-based system.

There are lots of opportunities there over the net. Just keep searching and reading. My apologies if I doubted your thread. Also, if you need my help you can reach me over skype. I would glad to help you in any way i can.

    Cheers,

    John

Seriously, this tread just crack's me up, sometimes when your dog keeps getting sick, it's just time to put him down.

No wonder PayPal dosn't approve people from Nigeria, so many scams come from there, even my grand mother made more then that with here Betty crocker recipe for sweet frog bread. When it smells like sh.. And it looks like sh.. It's possibly BS.
