For some reason it doesn't work when I search for backlinks using linK: and linkdomain:

Maybe it's just a temporary glitch...anyone notice this?

Not working here either. Perhaps it is down for maintenance. However, it was stated some time ago that Site Explorer will be retired shortly, so perhaps it's finally happened?

Sucks if it really has, considering the only alternative is Majestic, and that, in my opinion, is wholly inferior.

Can anyone confirm whether Yahoo still works (or exists) as a data source in the SEO Competition and Rank Tracker modules of Market Samurai?

Site Explorer itself is still up and functioning, it appears, and can be accessed directly here.

It appears to just be the link and linkdomain operators that are nonfunctional, for whatever reason.

The completion of Yahoo's integration with Bing's algorithm signalled the discontinuation of Site Explorer; or, as it says on Yahoo's site, its "merger" with Bing Webmaster Tools.

However one looks at it, the days of using Site Explorer for the purpose of analysing one's competitors' backlinks are over.

This thread is about Yahoo. From which source did you experience a drop in traffic?

All the big search engines ("both of them", rather) continually refine their algorithms. Sometimes the effect is a huge shakeup and near total devastation for some individuals whose businesses are heavily reliant on search-engine rankings. Other times the refinements are much more minor, effecting a smaller proportion of people.

Your traffic might bounce back, it might remain as-is (for now), or it might drop further still. There's simply no saying for sure, but rest assured that the shakeups, to whatever degree, are ongoing and ceaseless.

Such is the nature of the beast.

i lost almost all traffic i got from yahoo in the last few days.. so clearly there is something more mejor than simply the site explorer being closed down

So what now ? any alternatives ?
