I have a website and I really want to be in the top 10 for this keyword search but I don't know how to get there. Can someone tell me or give me advice?

You say that you want to be in the top 10, but don't you just want to get a lot of traffic to your site? Wouldn't you be happy with getting hundreds or thousands of targeted visitors? Why is being in the top 10 so important.

Battling to get into the top 10 requires competitive analysis, backlinking and pure luck.

But if you create the kind of content your audience is looking for, you'll build up traffic to your website.

    1. Figure out what kinds of things your potential visitor is searching for - use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool for this.
    2. Write content that matches what they're looking for.

That's all you need to do.

      :confused::confused::confused:

Being in the top 10 turns those hundreds of thousands of visitors into millions. But I wouldn't stop at just the top 10. Go for #1.

Obviously it can be nearly impossible to hit #1 for certain keywords. But getting there requires analysis of your competition and quality on-page SEO / backlinking on your part.

But what would you rather have JSP, 1,000 visitors from a single head term that you got to #1, or 1,000 visitors from 1,000 different search terms. It's still 1,000 visitors, but one is more stable and diversified than the other.

Fraser is correct. There are ways to put in more key words to produce more out put... try putting Words in the under laying script where it wont be seen and lets say your selling pets try typing it all ways like pets, pet, PET, PETS, Pets, ect. and thing that link to that object like Dogs cats ect.

Dude, that's just silly talk, lol.

I'm all for quality content, but If your source of traffic is the SERPs, your dreaming If you think it's just going to happen on it's own without doing seo.

      Lets be realistic...

Personally I make it a point to keep my traffic diversified to about 50% niche forum traffic & 50% SERPs. That smooths out any bumps in the road until I have time to correct.

Yeah, I wouldn't say you'll get into the top 10 results unless you create something that really goes viral. But the more keyword-targeted content you add, the more search engine traffic you're going to get.

And isn't that the whole point?

No matter. The thread is just spam. Pure spam.
Why people give answers to this stuff...I guess
they just try to be helpful without actually realizing
the question is dumb, 1 post, etc.

These one line nonsense questions are the bane of the WF.

Looks like Yukon even quoted a spammer...the person now seems
to be nonexistent. Notice the similarity to another reply?

    Exactly.

The conversation was good Paul. Who cares if a spam post became a muse. Some of the best reads on this forum spark from nothing.

Oh, I got sucked in by a spammer. I'm such a newb!

That's okay, I'm sure the conversation helps other people reading it.

First, you need to know your competitors, how many back links they have.
Second, check SEO on page and fix the error, I remember some plugin can help if you do not know much about it.
Third, make a SEO strategy and follow it. It may combine Press release, article marketing, web 2.0, blog comments...You can do which you likes; the others, you must hire some people to do.
