Can someone give me some feedback on my sites current SEO?

Hey everyone,

I won't post the URL as it's probably not allowed but the link is in my signature.

I've recently launched this website - it's for speed dating events in London, UK. I know pretty much nothing about SEO and as such we're not ranking very well in the SERP's at the moment. Ideally, I want to be on the first page for keywords like 'Speed Dating London', 'Speed Dating Events' or even better 'Speed Dating' but I know that's highly unlikely.

I just want someone with abit of SEO knowledge to take a look at the website, the code, content etc and tell me how the onsite SEO is and what needs to be changed and improved to rank of those keywords.

There are so many offers on this forum and companies out there offering to guarantee page one results but it all seems too good to be true, i'm very skeptical when it comes to this industry. Does anyone know of a honest and reliable company or individual that offers solid and proven SEO services? Or are there any tools available that would be able to help me implement my own SEO on my website?

Many Thanks!

I just had a very cursory glance and the most obvious thing I can see is that you have no meta description.

In most cases, Google will use the meta description as the abstract to show in the search engine results. It is also recommended to use your main keywords in the description, eg:

<meta name="description" content="We have the most exciting speed dating events for singles in London....">

I'm sure you can come up with a much better description, but you get the idea.

I'm writing this on an iPhone so I'm not able to check out your on site SEO, however you should ensure that your target keywords are in the page title, h1, meta description and so on however it's important to no 'over do' it.

The most important aspect, in my opinion, of SEO is the off-page such as building targeted backlinks to your target page(s). Have you done any of this yet? If you have se time to spare I'd strongly suggest paying for a service like BMR and doing guest posting as a means of garnering links.

Well you could always have a look at what other speed dating companies e.g. Slow Dating, Speed Dater do, and just re-word their content.

Oh, wait a minute, you already have :p

fredfox - what do you mean? Sure, i've looked at the competitors and have looked at what they're doing but I certainly haven't copied their content atleast not word for word! Still, that doesn't seem to be working

    Any other input guys?
