Do link wheels still work?

I've been reading some conflicting opinions regarding the effectiveness of link wheels since Google's latest Panda changes.

Does anyone know if link wheels are truly still effective or if there are new strategies that must be utilized to make them so?
#link #wheels #work

Well I have to say most people here don't do only one form of SEO (onsite and offsite) at a time so it's hard to say what single thing caused an increase in SERP's.

With that said I used a variant of Link Wheels called a Link Magnet  and while I can't believe I actually said that I have to say it did appear to provide a lot of link juice.

Again, who knows. It could have been blog comments, social bookmarks or article submissions that did it. Or a google update. Who know's?

A link wheel is a system of websites that point to each other in an attempt to improve rankings in Google's organic search. The promoted site resides at the center of the link wheel. All other sites (spokes) link back to the promoted site.

When you link multiple authority sites to each other and they are all linking out to your site, guess what... the search engines become happy and they you share a little of that authority!

To make the most of Google linkwheel, you must:
    - Create unique and valuable content that begs to be linked to.
    - Monitor which content on your blog or site has performed well.
    - Search Google for the best wheel spokes to get links from.
    - Email the controllers of the spokes and inform them your content exists and ask for a link.

P.S - There are, however, mixed opinions over the legitimacy of this technique in the eyes of search engines.

They work. I prefer pyramids tho. It seems more natural to me. Don't have any figures to compare tho (which is better).

Why wouldn't it work? It just an artificial connection of pages.

How much will it benefit your website is another story. And if your linkwheel gets busted in how much trouble you'll get is also another story.

Google is searching the net on a daily basis, in a non-stop way and examining links which point at websites. Link wheels, reciprocal types of votes and three-way listings can be named as methods which have been invented or created by webmasters. As long as the links added to your website are on pages which are accessed and crawled by Google, you can name the links counted, although there is a debate about values which can be achieved through participating in the plans.

Text links which are found on pages, crawled by Google would more than probably appear in your Google Webmaster Tools panel. Nobody except the Google team might be able to tell how valuable they are. In some cases, some link wheels are created in a natural and organic way, when some authority content pages are added to the websites and hundreds of readers find the materials just too great to miss and they would add links to them, without even the authors being aware of them.

Link wheel is still working but not as much as it was. I've conducted an observation about websites who used link wheels before. They do rank high in SERPS but after some updates that occurred they have suddenly disappeared in SERP. I just don't really know what causes them to lose their ranking.

But If you're just asking if they are still effective, yes they are. But again, not as much as before.

I prefer link pyramid. Links wheels left footprints that Google judge easily So, Link Pyramid is giving good results.

Linkwheel is sort of an old term, and now may be synonymous with multi tiered link building (linkwheel is quicker and easier to say Anyways, yeah, "linkwheels", when done right, are probably the most effective of any other method/software out there, especially since panda. Google's focus has shifted heavily toward quality, contextual content, so a nice network of blogs centered around your site's theme has an incredibly huge seo advantage over maybe thousands of, say, profile links, due not so much by the authority of the sites/blogs, but by the weight that the content gives your links.

link wheels still work if design and implemented correctly.

well by the way if you search on fiver*.com you will notice you will see many examples of multi tire link wheels / backlinks.

just a quick note: whenever you try to create linkwheel don't point to main site. try to create article on intermediate site like blogger or squidoo or hubpages and point all link to them.. (just think about panda update and avoid any penalty in future)

    That's my 2 cent...

Link wheels and link pyramids still do work. You just have to implement correctly and naturally. A lot of the automated programs may create them too quickly but then some like Senuke you can control the pace.

Build them slowly and effectively and you will see results.

They still work... but not on their own.

Mix it up a little... use link wheels... link pyramids... link pushes... use diverse linking strategies, and don't get stuck using one method.

If you happen to get lazy (as many of us have), then link pyramids are the way to go if you're only going to use one method.

Of course, they do work. The thing here is that the landscape or the approach for linkwheels entirely changed. Gone are the days when article directories are the core factors that govern an effective linkwheel strategy. Now, backlinks are also weighed depending on the quality and quantity of backlinks across different web pages.

Closed link wheel is not working (for me atleast) , but open link wheel works , but more than that link pyramids are doing great these days. I know few of my pals who have build more than 4-5 layers of pyramid and staying strong in their positions.

how about combining the best of worlds. create your spokes, for the link wheel, use UNIQUE and high quality content, then build massive pyramids to boost those links. Ranks -> UP 100%

Linkpush is sort of the same thing as a link pyramid, in that you build your structures out from the main site (your money site), only not interlinking between these sites. Then you branch out from each of these, out, like you did your main site, and keep going out and out, just not interlinking any branch to another. Did that totally confuse the hell out of anyone, or am I the only one?!

Link wheels are considered cheap and amateur tactics, that have a short self life.
Does it work? Maybe, maybe not, a little bit, short term type of benefit.
Will it keep on working? NO
In the end you will end up putting in maximum effort for minimum returns.
