I am asked to design a Google Adwords campaign for a small business owner in the beauty industry ?

As I wish to bring the most out of it as well as build credibility in this niche, any sound advice from experienced PPC marketer would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys and gals

Well, how much is this small business willing to spend every month on PPC?

I would start small until you find a campaign that's converting well.

Thank you for your reply. It is much appreciated.

However, to narrow the question is : How much can a small business can afford per day rather than is willing to spend on PPC each month.

If you or anyone has a precise idea on a minimum daily budget I would be happy as I do not wish to lose my customer's money, nor my efforts.

        Hi,

It is hard to help you, because it depends on so many factors : what are you selling exactly, how much money will you stand to gain from a conversion (? For example if you are selling cars, a conversion may make you gain around 15000usd, so you can easily spend 14999usd and still make a profit ! Lol !).
The thing is that you can do good with a small budget if you manage it well, but you can also pay a lot of money for nothing. So you have to manage your ppc bids well and that's the hardest part. You have to adujst your bids everyday according to your results and other factors. I recently found a nice web app (which has a long free trial!) that can do this for you : www(dot)wordwatch(dot)com and I am so far really happy with it !

I hope my answer will help you,

        Good luck !

I dont know how you can ask anyone else apart from the person paying how much they can budget?

only they know how much they can afford to lose each day, as you normally lose when you start PPC campaigns until you tweak them to start making money

Don't think you will build credibility by NOT asking these questions. It sounds like you need to have a sit down with the client and run through a list of questions. Don't think this will put them off, by doing so and asking informed questions you are actually showing that you are a knowledgeable and trustworthy source who is trying to align himself with the business for best results (i'd still explain at the start that these questions are essential to success)

you would need to know a whole bunch of things. I am no PPc expert but I would think such things as

    1) What items to promote
    2) Margins on said items
    3) Budgets (start small and work up)
    4) What areas to focus on geographically
    5) Current conversion rate of web site (if he has it it can be very useful)

as a minimum you would need to know that so you can decide what the campaign needs

    Hi Guys,
I really appreciate your kind answers as they give me more data and confirm my thoughts.
The client is in fact a friend of mine and I am testing the waters. I do not intend to charge her so far.
Also, she is new so I know that it is wise to minimize costs as much as possible.
I have already set a campaign right now and am testing, testing, testing by adding new ads within my campaign. Each new ad contains different keywords for the sake of testing of course.
As I just began, it is too soon to see results, but I will keep this method as it seems safe and possibly effective.
Thanks again so much for your kind help.
I will keep you informed on my progress of course.
