Google Is Only Indexing 2 Of My Pages??

Hey guys,

For some reason on my site, Google is only indexing 2 pages; the home page and the privacy policy. I have submitted the other pages to Google so don't see why they wouldn't be showing up.

Does anyone have any ideas why this may be?

Thanks,

Craig

Probably because your site is very new and doesn't have many quality backlinks yet.

    Two things:

    1) Make sure you are using Google Webmaster Tools
    2) Add a site map make sure it picks it up.

Here's an example of a site map, you can get programs that make these

Site age has nothing to do with indexing...Try pacelattin's recommendation, maybe it has something to do with sitemap or if not, check the coding of your pages.

I do not I haven't submitted a sitemap I have only submitted the individual pages so perhaps this could be the problem?

Try to submit first your sitemap and see the results.

Another option is to bookmark your site on ten bookmarking sites. Or use Twitter to bring more traffic to your page.

    Hope that helps!

    How old is the site?

You don't need to submit each page to Google. All you need is one back link to the home page that Google can follow. If you have good site navigation and all other pages on the site are accessible from the home page, Google will be able to crawl and index your whole site.

It takes time for each page to show up in Googles index though, as Google needs to find out what each page is about then rank them accordingly, which doesn't happen instantly.

Do a search using site:yourwebsite.com over the next couple of weeks, you should see more pages gradually appearing.

    Hey Craig,

You don't need to submit anything to Google. In fact, it's probably better to let Google find your content on it's own. Social bookmarks are a good idea, but also try getting some high PR links.

Google sorts indexing priorities loosely on PageRank, so a link from a page with higher PR will get crawled quicker and more consistently.

Also, if only some of your pages are indexed then Google may not have considered your other pages important enough to index. Building backlinks to these page will help with that, not to mention building deep links is always a good idea

[EDIT] One more thing - if you ever need some quick and really strong indexing power, SEO Fast Indexer is the best IMHO

Before talking about backlinks, Are you sure that you allow Google to visit your particular page? (I mean via Robot.txt and all or Is there any other coding restricting Google on accessing your pages?),

    Double check it

If you are sure that you are allowing your Google to analysis all the pages, then you have to get few backlinks to your each pages daily basis, it will bring Google to you.

    Build links
Build quality content at regular intervals

    Google will index your site.
Dumb question, but are you linking to your pages from your site? Google needs links from one page to the other in order to index your site.

I've seen the sitemap has been downloaded according to Awstats so Google must have an indication of it now. I'll just play the waiting game and continue to work away
