My site just got to #7 recently for a medium competitive keyword. The keyword has 6600 exact searches per month but my traffic is still too little. I got like 7-10 unique visitors per day. Is it normal?

The huge majority of the traffic is shared between the #1-3 spots. You're doing good so far. #7 is a pretty strong accomplishment in itself. Just keep pushing to make it to the top 3.

      Doesn't sound right...

Make sure you are logged out of any Google account when you are doing your searches so it's not 'personalized'.

Yep this sounds right to me. As JSP says it is all about the top 3, if your not there then you are only getting the dregs of the searches, plus, from experience they don't convert as well either.

That sounds exactly right. At 7-10, you can expect anywhere from about 1-3% of the search volume. That would be about 65-200 visitors a month, which is what you are getting.

The first page of Google is nothing. The top 3 is where you need to be.

You must be in the top 3 positions in google in order to get massive traffic, its very hard to get traffic for any other positions, even if its page 1.

It looks like your traffic results are about right. The top 5 gets almost 75% of all clicks while the next 5 gets about 15% which comes to an average of 3% for any of the positions from 6 - 10. The rest of the traffic (10% or so) goes to page 2 and onwards.

So at 6600 searches a month, which translates to about 220 daily searches, at position 7 (assuming a 3% click rate) you get exactly 7 visitors.

Cannot go too far wrong with that.

Push your site up the rankings - the money is above the fold, even on Page 1!

whatever you have done to get that #7 rank keep doing it! you want to be inthe top3 for the most of that traffic. Aim for #1 ofcourse, but top will will get your a much higher portion of traffic. and like spherevoice sais you can also optimise your title and description to increase the CTR of that traffic. Combine both and ou will have a lot more of traffic to your site for sure!

    thank you everyone.

But do i have a chance to beat big website like consumer report? My main method of link building is article marketing and i am so far having great result with it. But my main concern is my main keyword which i have been optimizing my website for, doesn't rank as high as my secondary keyword which is now #6. Even though they both have the same level of completions as well as search volumes. My secondary keyword doesn't appear in my domain, title, h1 tag, description...And i don't use secondary keyword that much in my links, just a few of them, but it ranks higher? and my competitions are pretty much the same for both keyword?

Forgot to mention, the #1 spot of my keyword is using mainly BMR posts and i am also using BMR posts for link building. So any tips to beat my competition regarding BMR posts?
