Google webmaster tools - Did you know that...?

Did you know that you have too add both of your sites to google webmaster tools? as in:

www.mysite.com
mysite.com

Otherwise Google will think it are 2 seperate domains and will treat it as duplicate content, never knew that. Or isn't that valid when you don't use webmaster tools?

    You add your site and then edit in options how would you want it to be shown to search engines. You need to pick one.

      No, when I tried to do that, it didn't let me, it said I also need to verify mysite.com first.
