I'm new to building a website using SEO methods. I have done my keyword research and have selected 5 keywords I want to use on my website. From what I've read I should write a 400-500 word page and target only one of my keywords on that page.

What I dont understand is when I get the content written (I'm not writing the content thats way to much) for the other keywords will the content be a continuation of the first keywords content? Or will it talk about something completely different? Also is it cool to include my affiliate link in all the pages I make for the keywords??

The more content the better. I find that 400-500 is too short these days, try to aim for 700+ words of quality unique content on your subject.

I target around 3-4 keywords per post, these keywords should be highly related and focused to the rest of the content.

I am not sure what you mean by "will the content be a continuation of the first keywords content?" - Just create pages for your website that genuinnely help your site visitors and can target keywords in the same niche.

Adding affiliate links on every page is definitely cool but you have to watch out about stuffing your affiliate links and ads into your site too frequently. I often find a website with less affiliate links and ads will do better in the search engines and your "time on site" stats will improve.

Remember, Google want you to provide a quality experience to your visitors, if you flick people off for cash Google won't want anything to do with you.

    cheers,

My advice would be to narrow your keywords from 5 down to 1. Pick the one that you most want to rank for and think will be the best conversion for your business.

A lot of the time Google will recognize your keyword relates to the others and will rank you naturally.

Are your 5 keywords related or not?

If not, then I wouldn't recommend building a site that targets completely different keywords.

If they are related, do you have a primary keyword?

By primary, I mean the main keyword that gets the most searches.

    Say your primary keyword was:

    Digital Cameras

and the other 4 keywords were something like:

    Waterproof Digital Cameras
    Canon Digital Cameras
    Digital Cameras For Children
    Cheap Digital Cameras

It is obvious that your site would be targeting digital cameras as that is a more generic term and the other keywords are more specific.

So if you were creating 5 articles, then each one would concentrate one keyword, but as they are all related, then it will help your site to rank as a whole.
