none of the blog comments are accepted in Google Webmaster

Over time i recorded the URLs of some 100+ blog comments made by me, manually, no spam, approved on the blogs with link pointing to my site most of the time through the <Name> field and in some cases a link inside the comment. Various PR blogs, mostly 2+.

Today I checked Google Webmaster Tools and among all the links pointing to my website NONE were from these blog comments. So the Google Webmaster Tools being the most accurate tool available for own website - this tells me that blog comments are not at all useful for SEO....

Does anyone have actual proof that blog commenting brings value?

Please actual proof only - no "i think" or "i believe" or "this famous guy told me"

I think the main issue here is that Google Webmaster Tools just doesn't report all the backlinks, at least in my experience.

I have something related that's been bothering me.

I have a 3 month old site, and it's targeting a very competitive keyword (or set of keywords). I'm doing surprisingly well at position 26 for the main keyword (140k searches). I've been doing mostly blog POSTS on a network (a service--not mine). I've really moved up in position, but when I use SEO Spyglass, it says there are no backlinks.

I usually use Search Engine Genie (it shows 300 positions) to check position, but used it to check backlinks. It also says I have no backlinks.

But if I paste a portion of the posts from the blogs, Google finds the post. Also, if I check my site like this: "www.website.com" it shows 171 links, but none of the blog posts. The posts are no more than 10 days old.

Does the fact that these link checking tools find no backlinks indicate a problem? SO FAR it doesn't seem that I'm being "punished" for the posts, just that the links aren't being displayed. Does that indicate a problem? I'm doing 20 posts a day at the moment.

    Hi Matt, thanks.

The reason that doesn't explain it is because many other links I did create such as from forum postings and videos for example did appear in the Webmaster Tool. So if they are showing only a random selection from the total links then at least SOME of the blog comments would be there, but NONE are there while other kinds of links do appear.

    hi vjandroid1
Forum and blog posts are not an issue. This post is about blog commenting.

    hi Carl Brown
Please don't hijack my thread ))) Other external tools are very inaccurate. Anyone who can compare their Google Webmaster Tool of their website with any other external tool can see HUGE gaps.
