Installing adsense into wordpress theme

Hi: Am attempting to install adsense into a wordpress theme called "Sense of Blue", and it's driving me nuts!

I have tried four different plugins, and they all produce a 404 page when I try to save the plugin settings. I figure it's not the plugins-- they can't all be junk! I have probably misunderstood something real simple.

What am I missing here? Is there some tweak in wordpress that allows adsense to display correctly?

Hope there is help out there!

All the best,

Gene

You can put the adsense code in a sidebar widget - no plug-in required. Or just add the code into a post or page using the html editor. Those are what I do.

Agree with this. This is what I do also. Perhaps two blocks (top and bottom, top and middle) depending on what's going on the blog. And for the third (if necessary) consider a theme which allows a custom 468x60 such as the inove theme.

Never really enjoyed any success with various adsense plug-ins. Tried a few though the sidebar thing has been the more effective.

      Thanks,

      Andy.

I also read in past posts that some adsense plugins insert the author's adsense ID even when you select not to share revenue.

I read a report once which claimed that many of the Adsense plugins are pre-programmed to skim a percentage of the user's commissions right off the top. I have no idea whether or not this is true, but it makes me extremely suspicious of them.

My thanks to all of you for the helpful suggestions. Will keep at this until I get a satisfactory solution.

As to just pasting the adsense code right into a post, will definitely be looking at that one!

You can create a text widget to put in the sidebar. In the text widget, put your 160x600 Adsense block.

If you're comfortable with editing the template, you can also put a 468x60 block in the single.php file, so it displays just before the post or after it or both.

Did you mean Blue Sense theme?

Can you or someone expand on this?

As to what we need to put in the template to call the single.php file

I currently use a plugin as well and don't like the way it interferes with the
flow of the text and after reading here, if there's a possibility of lost
      commissions (that would suck too)

      thanks
      Scott

Do you mean "Blue Sense" theme by dosh dosh ???

This is an Adsense Ready theme.....you don't need to install any adsense plugin !

Did you try the plugins with another theme ?

I have tried the plugins...but found it better just to insert the code manually. - That way you can choose exactly where you want it and what format. Puts you in control

Instead of using plugins why not fork out that little bit extra and buy an Adsense built theme instead?

Two which most people recommend are:

    1. ctr Theme (no longer has support or supported yet still have to buy the theme)
    2. Clickbump

I use ctr but only because I've never tried Clickbump and will probably purchase and install it on one of my other domains to see how it performs.

      One correction...

Eppie is back on the scene and has started responding to support questions again, so CTR-Theme may be back in the game.

      One endorsement...

      Clickbump rocks....
