Opinion: Do you think this will work

Right now I don't have a ton of free time but I am looking to make a consistant $10-15/day from about 5 mini-sites (each site will need to average 2 to 3 dollars a day).

These sites won't really be MFA sites as they will have decent content but also will be mostly tech related so obviously they will have a high competition rate.

I am trying to go the organic traffic route and the main source of traffic will be from article/directory submission, link exchange and possibly buying a few PR links.

Revenue stream will rely a lot on adsense but will also use CPA via amazon and possibly a few other networks.

I have been out of the game for a long time so I don't know the current landscape of it all. Any suggestions? I will have about 15 hrs a week to commit and the budget depends on the ROI. I am done with dealing with adwords and not looking to buy direct traffic.

Thanks for all your help.

Tech niches are generally tough because technology changes so fast these days. Products are here today, gone tomorrow.

Some tech niches are a little more stagnant than others, so it depends on the niche you are looking at.

In general though, you usually have a small window to make any money before the next latest greatest thing is out.

Well you're right thats why I wanted to keep the number of sites managed small as they would be updated on a semi regular basis via wordpress. For example if it were about camera's it wouldnt be just about a certain model.

That can work, but you would have a far better chance of ranking for certain models of cameras instead of a term like "digital cameras".

If they're all going to be about technology, why not just make one large authority site and work on ranking the inner pages instead of 5 separate domains?

I would suggest that you don't base your budget on your ROI because ROI means return on investment, so you must invest first. Obviously, you know this, but you must also know that it takes time to rank a website to #1 where it's actually getting substantial traffic, and then the money doesn't just come flowing in. I'm saying this out of experience because I have a website that is number one that gets a couple hundred of visitors a day and i'm still testing out what products to offer, how to create pages that actually convert, etc.

So, determine what your budget is without having to depend on a return to keep investing. that's my advice about it.

Personally i would not prefer the way of buying the links or traffic for my site, as per me it is the worst way which in beginning provide the best results but then after one found sudden drop in the traffic.
So start to do the work own and use different seo methods. And i have found blog , articles ,videos ,social bookmarking ,directory submission as the best and quick ways to get the results. And after the panda update social media be more useful to get the more results for the site so use it effectively.
