Authority site vs micro niche sites

I've just bought a domain name, and i`m starting to work on a new project, an authority site. I chose it in my language, so i could write the unique content for it. I have found a good, big niche, medicine related. the competition for all the keywords on this niche is very low (i live in eastern europe, romania, and here the internet business isn`t so big). so in google there is almost for every keyword 1 or 2 micro websites...
i am confident that with an authority site i could rank 1#. what do you think?

I like to target a moderately broad term for my domain and long tail terms for my inner pages. This kind of gives you the best of both worlds since you're not stuck focusing on just one keyword / phrase. You can build smaller authority sites this way.

yes, i will build a small authority site. i will build and optimise the website in my language, romanian. anyway i can`t see why i won`t show you the niche.
here it is. the main keyword "tratament" which means treatment, get solo around 880 searches. but the other terms related to it gets a lot more. there are about 600 keywords containing this keyword, going down from 5400 searches.
i thought that if i could create a nice site around these keywords, i will get a decent amount of traffic. and the competition is quite easy.
      what do you think guys?

I agree with JSProjects. if you want to make an authority site, dont just target 1 keyword term for the whole site. keep the content relevant to the niche, and branch off to different keyword terms for sub pages.

When I think of micro niche sites, I don't think of small site. I think of sites built around small niches, for example fishtanks would be a micro niche from the fish accessories niche. So you can have an authority site that is built around a micro niche.
