Help creating web-based campaign to advertise free classifieds site?

I would like to create a web-based campaign to advertise our free classifieds site so that more people go to our site and post free ads.

I've advertised with facebook but I feel it hasn't been planned. The result of this random advertising is that we have tons of fans in our fanpage, but that's it.

It seems that our fanpage and our actual site are two different entities; in other words, the huge amount of fans does not translate to an increase of free ad posts in our site.

My main question is: what steps should I take to increase traffic to our free classifieds site? I would like to create a well-planned campaign using the web for advertising.

And my secondary question is... how can I take my current facebook fanbase (over 15K fans) and push them to post ads on our free classifieds site?

    You should try to post your site on social bookmarking sites. Then you should have bloggers link to your site to make it more legitimate and have more people visit. Also, try making a twitter account, that might help too.

    Agreed. Social bookmarking would be the best way to promote your through a legitimate source. Its a good, strong way to gain rank and traffic and if its mutual assistance you can gain valuable reputation among the communities.
