Blog vs Main Site Traffic

I have a website, ---.com and I have a blog with content on ---.com/blog. The .com is using Joomla whereas the blog is using Wordpress.

In Google analytics, they show as two different "sites" and I have to have two different campaigns listed.

My question is this: if I get links to my blog, will that affect my main URL SERP?

Please advise, and thanks in advance.

As long as the target keyword is different to the blog and main site, there will not be any affect for serp.

Now I'd like for both sites (since they ARE related, same company, etc) to be affected by a link, whether it goes to the blog or the main url. Thoughts?

the one that is getting strong backlinks will be on top, but i would suggest you not to confuse the "Search Robots" by optimizing two different pages for same keywords.
