Is there a rule that Sitemap must have an extension like .html or .xml ?

Using www.domain.com/sitemap is wrong ?

Please advice because when I validate the sitemap it says its valid.

Well There is No Rule that Sitemap must have extensions like .html or .xml, you can submit it without extensions!

So using www.domain.com/sitemap is absolutely right! No Need To Worry About That!

All our sitemaps end .xml and when we post to our blog it is indexed within 20 minutes.

It makes little difference onthe extension as long as the sitemap is submitted and is in the correct format.

Makes no difference for sitemap, I use .xml. Either one will get your website indexed.
