Niche/Keyword Research Template

Hey guys, just a quick one. Would anyone be kind enough to show me where I can pick up a keyword research template or plan. Something in Excel would do, where I can add my keywords, competition, monthly searches etc. Just to be a bit more organised for with my niche research.

I've tried sitting down an creating my own but my head just doesn't work that way! Just the way I am!

      Yeah I was just wondering if anyone could could tell me where I could grab one quickly. Looks like I'll have to do it myself, owel.

    You can search for keywords in "keyword tool" in google and then try to download the file to excel. Try narrowing down the keywords that passed your qualifications. hth!

      Hey.

      Ignore the following five words at your peril:
      EXCEL IS AWESOME FOR KEYWORDS.

      I have various spreadsheets I use for different things, such as trending, sniping, squatting, mining, combining words, etc. They are VERY useful indeed. My favourite spreadsheet is one I call "RHINO", which is optimised for Longtail KW Sniper sites. It eats keyword data, and spits out an overall score, based on certain criteria, including competition, CPC, etc..

      I can't share them right now as I might be developing them into interactive web applications that will find their way on to my Fakeword website.

      I'll give you some suggestions though.

      The keys to creating useful spreadsheets for keyword research are:
      • Create multiple spreadsheets for different strategies.
      • Don't just store lists. Create formulas that will help you prioritize.
      • Create complex formulas that give more weight to more important factors.

      One of the most important parts of your formula might be the ratio of monthly searches, to Google results, then you can award points for other factors, and so on.

      If I had to say anything was a secret weapon for me, it would be spreadsheets. Too many people seem to weigh up keywords in their heads, based on nothing more than some Adwords Keyword Tool stats.

      If you have a good formula (one that weights different factors appropriately), all you need to do is enter your keywords, some stats, and get a rating.

        Might help you get started with Excel.
        It’s a template for combining words.

        These can be used for keywords, or indeed for domain names.
        Dont forget you can do a bulk domain search with GoDaddy or DomainTools.com.

        With the spreadsheet template I linked to above, you could for example, put cities on the Y axis, and services on the X axis, so you would get NewYorkHairdressers, NewYorkJewellers, NewYorkCafes, etc etc.

        Or you could put hobbies on Y, and words like “tips”, “books” etc on the X axis, to give you hundreds of permutations, which you could research for KWs/Domains.
