What type of ads are preferable? Rich media or text ads. Rich media look beautiful but I know a guy who makes a good money with adsense and he never uses rich media but only text ads.

You might need to do a search on that, but I have always heard that the text ads actually have a higher CTR.

Preferably i will use the text ads because it will also increase the traffic when users will find the relevant sources from my website.

I think you will find the majority use text ads on their blogs, but i have seen my fair share of banners around too. I'd suggest just sticking to text ads as you'll also be getting more options i.e- say 4+ ads in the space of 1 rich media ad. Correct me if i'm wrong as i don't use adsense but that is what I'd assume would be a big point to consider.

I think it really depends on a few things

    -The niche
    -Site layout
-is your content all words with no images, images with no text, text with one image per post, etc
    -ad placement

For example, I have had several sites (I have recently downsized to be more effective) and when I build up a site, I usually start with text/image for all ad placements and try to learn how the ctr plays out after a few months. After a few months of clicks, I will usually switch to all of one or the other to see what happens to my ctr and then adjust from their. Most of my sites have image ads in one area of the site and text only in other areas of the site, while my highest ctr is from an all text site that has text/image in all ad placements. The tricky thing is to switch up your coloring for about three or four prime days per month to grb ur average users eye more and entice some extra clicks, then revert back to your standard text colors. That's just my opinion though. And that last strategy only works on a site that gets frequent return visitors. I also haven't had much luck trying to "blend" my ad fonts in with the colors I'm using in my content colors......I use blue titles for everything....and on one of my sites I'm getting a 18% CTR and another I'm getting a 13% CTR.......however on my two USER GENERATED CONTENT sites I'm only getting about 2% CTR. You just have to adjust....leave it for z month or so (depending on the traffic u r getting daily) and then adjust.....wait and repeat....wait and repeat....its a pain in the ass.....BUT WORTH IT IF YOU WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

Actually Text ads look like the part of the page contents or an article and so its CTR is high. Reader thinks it to be the internal link inserted by the writer. Concealing the text ads between the copy text really makes much money.

it depends on your site, i have entertainment site with about 2k/day traffic, at first i published only text ads but i don't earn much, low ctr then i keep experimenting and put more images ads , 1 text ad and link unit. after i changed. my ctr increased. your ad should also blend with your site

Opportunist86.....as I stated in my response, and as jerome15 pointed out....it depends on your site. If u notice a majority of the previous responders to your thread mentioned that text only ads were best and Jerome mentioned that his ctr increased with image ads. Every site is different. Experiment and study....experiment and study my friend....that's what its all about.....and eventually you'll find that sweet spot!
