Hi. I like to tell u that i have blog on electronic product review and its 3 months old. Till now 350+ visitors saw my blog. I use free method for promoting my blog like article writting, blog comment, seo, article submission, backlinks and some times twitter. For backlinks, I use freebacklinktool. I am happy with that tool because in two days it had send me around 20 visitors. So I am really concerned about the google page rank. Can u give me some tips to increase my pr? Also if u know any free backlink generator, pls share. Cheers.

Every single page of your blog counts. Google ranks your site by evaluating your blog as a whole, not individual pages.

Do not worry about getting higher PR. Just focus on generating more traffic to your site. Often, higher PR does not mean more traffic. I am not a SEO expert, so do not take my word for 100% :-)

      Hi Guru_Marketing,

      Actually, you got that backwards.

Google, like nearly all search engines, rank individual pages, not websites. Rankings are based on relevancy scores from four primary signal groups:
      1. AllInTitle
      2. AllInURL
      3. AllInText
      4. AllInAnchor

These are individual page level signals. I have never seen evidence that suggests that Google has ever used site level signals for ranking.

If you want to increase PR of your site, you need to gain some high quality backlinks. The more you get, the higher your site PR. However, the influence of PR in ranking algorithm has dropped sharply in these days, so the most important thing is to build high quality content of targeted niche, provide more value to the visitors. PR is not a big deal.

I wouldn't waste time focussing on your PR for starters. Focus on building quality backlinks and the PR will follow when it's ready!

    Stop chasing PR, Period.

Only way PR is worth is for selling/flipping domains to unsuspected buyers. So if you are not in this game, well...

It seems everything you are doing to get traffic to your blog is right (except may be, the freebacklinktool), but, 350 odd visitors in 3 months seems to be a bit on lower side.

The importance (WRT quality & quantity) of traffic depends upon the way you monetize it. For PPC (& congeners) you need massive traffic (doesn't hurt even if the traffic is not so much targeted), but for affiliate marketing (or presell/sell) your traffic must be targeted (the quantity takes a back seat here). Now, for both above scenarios, the PR is mostly irrelevant.

swatz, if you want to build your PR, you need backlinks from sites with a PR that is higher than yours. The fastest way is to find dofollow blogs to comment on.

A little trick I've learned is if you can get away with it, is to comment with your url and site title in an H1 or bold tag. Most blog comments won't let you do it, but when you find one that can, it gives a nice boost.

The other thing you'll need is backlinks from sites with a high PR themselves. You can get a thousand PR0 backlinks, but it won't do much to raise your PR.

For example, if you wanted to get to a PR 5 for a particular page, you'd need about two dozen backlinks from PR5 pages and another dozen from PR4 pages.

    Hope that helps

      That's not true.

Backlinks from PR1 page to PR8 page will help PR8 page to eventually get PR9.

        Yeah...eventually.

The guy wants to raise his PR, not waste time.

Eventually was meant to suggest that it is not an overnight process, but I see you have taken offense to that. So let me rephrase. A site CAN have PR5 even if all the backlinks it has are ALL PR1.

You seem to imply that getting low PR backlinks is more time (and/or resource) consuming then getting high PR backlinks (so as to provide equal PR boost in both cases), than that does not stand to reason.

I've never had PR higher than 0 on a website less than 6 months old... if that helps. So you may get like a 2 or 3 soon but its just that your site is so fresh.

Hey buddy..PR will not give you $$$. If you want to increase your site PR, create backlinks on pages with the actual PR atleast 2 and wait for the next PR update.

PageRank is overestimated, PR without traffic means nothing, you should focus more on generating traffic, which is the essential part.

To increase your PR you need more links, simple as that. Whether it be a few high PR links, loads of crappy PR links, or a combination of the two. Don't kill yourself worrying about PR though, worry about solid onpage + offpage SEO and you'll be fine.

Stop worrying about PR and focus on getting higher in search results. Nowadays search engines give low priority to PR in search algorithm. Keep focusing on building quality backlinks (for example by commenting on Commentluv enabled blogs, social bookmarking, forum posting, guest writing etc.) and the PR will automatically follows

I got PR1 after 2 months and about 30 pages of unique content on my blog. I haven't done any backlinking, but Alexa says that I have 31 sites linking in and my rank is 885,000 globally. I'd like to do more backlinking, but I've put a lot of work into my content and I don't want to get a Google slap. So I'm hoping that things just progress naturally for me. Right now my blog has about 58 pages of content; I'm hoping to get higher PR in the next update.

The fastest way to improve your site's page rank is to constantly update it with quality content related to your keywords and building quality backlinks with a page rank of 5 and higher. On the other hand, PR doesn't matter if you are not getting traffic so don't focus solely on PR.
