Hey guys,

I have seen a lot of threads as of late with people being upset they have a low PR, mainly between 0 and 1.

Let's just get something straight. If you want to rank for a certain keyword, your PR will not effect it at all. A PR 1 site, can out rank a PR 5.

Just keep working on your site and ignore your PR and also your competitors. It wont make a difference. Spend more time on worry about your website content and backlinks, and less on your Page rank. Trust me you will get more done and enjoy the rewards of your hard work.

Well said. More backlinks is beneficial than PR.
This in particular those building affiliate site. You will get more sales from backlinks compared to those as a result of PR

True, there are a ton of factors that go into ranking for a keyword and PR is just one tiny part of that. But, PR is still important especially when you are attaining links.

Agreed. I've had plenty of high PR sites in the past...didn't make a difference.

    PR is way over-rated...

Focus on targeted traffic, conversion rate optimization and list building.

What you are saying isn't really of any help. People do want to focus on PR (in a way and this is why)

If your site is a PR 0 or PR1 for example then from Google's perspective, you pretty much have no backlinks from any sites with real trust or authority. As a result of this you probably won't be ranking for any competitive terms.

If you focus getting lots of high PR backlinks with a low OBL, then come the next PR update your PR will rise as Google will see there are lots of quality sites linking to you.

SO really you're killing 2 birds with one stone. Get the high PR links which you need for good rankings, and by getting those the PR will come!

Very well said, I totally agree with you. Backlink is like a backbone of a site.

Yes, PR sucks and it's a waste of time...why people consistently pay me $300 - $400 for links on my high pr pages and sites is beyond me.

And why do you guys bother getting backlinks on high pr sites if it doesn't matter?

Because it DOES matter and Because they work . Look people are entirely confused. The PR OF YOUR SITE does not matter if the links that got it the PR are not targeted to anchor text. The PR of a link WITH ANCHOR TEXT matters for ranking for that term.

Its like this - can a top ranked doctor be beat out for a job over a lower ranked doctor? Of course. If the Top ranked doctor is a cardiologist and the job is to diagnose children then a pediatrician is going to get the job over a cardiologist.

Can a lower PR page beat out a higher PR Page of course if the links coming in to it are specialized in the anchor text term for that search term.

Its really easy but people are confusing the life out of it and claiming PR does not matter even with links.

My understanding is that internal linking from a high PR page on your site to a newly made page can help rank that page. I have seen some internal pages rank high simply due to internal linking structure from a link from the homepage.

Totally true! But no matter how times it's said on this forum, people will always get paranoid and ignore the facts.

Find quality sources for links and PR will follow. Relevant links from sites in your niche count a lot. A few years ago, I had a site with over 10K backlinks and got trounced by a site with fewer than 10 really good links. I learned my lesson then and never looked back. Oh, and if a site outranks you, look at their backlinks for ideas.

High pr is a great thing to have especially with google dropping more hammers on MFA sites.

Becoming an authority is something everyone should try and do if they want this for the long haul.
