What makes you think that site is using Wordpress. It isn't.

Use What WordPress Theme Is That?

The site you mention doesn't use WordPress (shock! horror!). It's custom HTML which could have been written with any number of editors.

I do know a lot of those free themes have a lot of hidden backlinks in them, I think thats why guys put them out for "free"
those links can be removed. I can easily remove the ones in the footer

the other ones I am not so sure about

Interesting having contacted this web design company I can already sense some resistance
he asked me, how many pages will this site have? I said I have no idea, I want you to do the basic design layout and make the site have the wow factor, I will add as many pages later as I deem necessary for SEO

I think they are used to dealing with people who have never had a site before, who do not understand SEO, wordpress, backlinking, etc, so I think they will resist me strongly lol

That site is old school HTML, they are running old tables instead of all div tags.

Even the designers own site is running old tables.

Personally I would send the link to a Wordpress devloper that knows HTML5 & Wordpress code, If your paying for a custom theme like that don't settle for tables in the code.

Also helps If the site designer knows photoshop & make sure they give you the source files for any layered photoshop files, you'll need that anytime you want to do edits to theme images later on (year or two from now).

Thanks Yukon I am not that good at analyzing source code

I do REALLY like the look of the site but I need for it to be modern SEO friendly to the SERPS and be able to edit it myself, I think that style will go very well for my new commodity site, very classy looking

Any good web designer/developer can make an exact copy of that sites layout/look in OP, only with your own images, etc...

Just make sure If your paying for a custom theme/site that the code is all up to date (no old tables, etc...), tell them you want <div> tags & HTML5 compliant source code, works for both Wordpress & HTML sites.

As far as seo, you'll just have to tell them how you want the site structured, shouldn't be a big deal for a good site/theme developer.

Yes, but that site in OP is very small (around 10 pages total).

All the links are in the header.

How large will your site be?

Also, that sites on-page seo is horrible I just noticed all their internal links are hidden inside frames & javascript in the header.

Lol, look at their Google Cache (nothing):

      The Paradiso Terrestre

      [edit]
I would never hire the folks that built that site, poor html code & zero seo.

The look is good, but looks won't rank a page in the SERPs.

Hire someone else to get the look of that site + onpage seo.

I would go with Wordpress then, easy to scale up quickly. Plus it has thousands of free plugins for just about everything.

Yes but Yukon, you cant get that visual effect with WP? or you can?

I actually may not want to mimic that site
I may want just a native In traditional dress holding some coffee in a basket in a frame that borders the site
and then to her right are buttons that light up that navigate the site

not sure if that fits with any good SEO strategies or Silo structure though

interesting discussion though, definitely off the beaten path

It would not be hard to duplicate that site in wordpress. pretty minor css stuff even with last years twentyten theme. If you can't or dont want to do it yourself, put it up on elance and see what kind of bids you get. You'll get some bids up in the thousands but I bet you can get it done for less than $50.

Anything you do with html, you can do with Wordpress.

A lot of Wordpress themes start from a basic html template, even new themes Photoshop > html > Wordpress.

That gets the web designer two clients (html + Wordpress) with just a little extra work.
