Advice on SEO for new website

Hi everyone,

I have just had my new site listed on Google and Bing for a local professional service. I am on pages 4 to 8 for my keywords.

How long would it normally take to get to page one. My site is www.cobourg-porthopefamilylaw.com.

Thanks for your help.

Best,

Thomas O'Malley

It's going to depend on how strong your competition is.

Just keep doing the usual backlinking and networking activities and it will depend on how good your content is and how many links, pages, referring domains, age, PR etc. that your competitors have.

Make sure the page you want ranked is optimized for your main keyword (tags, headlines, content, etc.)
    Add fresh content every day.
Build backlinks from related sites, social bookmarking sites, forums, etc.
Make sure you have social media profiles built and linked to.
You can create some free blogs elsewhere with a little content and link to each other and your site.
Answer some questions in q&a sites.
Make a video, link from there and submit to video directories
Write some high quality articles and submit to good directories
Write a press release and submit to press release directories
Target some local press that might be interested and send a press release to them.

It might take some time. There's no way to say definitively since it all depends on your competition.

Have you tried targeting any local keywords, with town names in them? You can sometimes rank a lot faster with those.

That almost sums it all up. Always be consistent with what you're doing as well!

You cannot put a specific time frame on how long it would take unless you had a proper SEO plan in place. Id recommend writing out the keywords you want to rank for , and doing article marketing on them. Thank you

      Thanks for everyone's input.

My keywords are the relevant towns in my area plus my services:

Cobourg family lawyers, Cobourg divorce lawyers, Cobourg divorce

The competition is not that great.

I am thinking about using Matt Laclear's backlink service.

I will wait to see how my keywords are ranking in the next week or so.

backlinking is only one part of getting ranked. You need to diversify your SEO. Some articles, and other such things will help as well.

Without looking further, are there other Cobourg law firms other than in your key cities?

I think the pros have answered your questions. I am also trying to get my site to rank for some keywords and i am fairly new to this. The only thing to ensure you do is to remain consistent and don't give up with your efforts. You will get there.

    Well...your obviously going local.

Are you asking about what you can do as far as onpage seo it get to the #1 position of google and stay there?

One of the first things I would have done is to change the name of the theme from "Leslie Theme" to "family_law". Then I would have included geo tags in the header. Then I would have optimized any and all images, then throw some seo optimization on your css file.

That's a starter anyway. And, just my 2 cents.
