What an IDIOT!!!! A Cautionary TALE!

I could just scream! I built a client 40 niche sites over a period of a year or so. They all had nice rankings, making money, the birds were chirping, bees buzzing, and all of a sudden, nothing... nuclear winter nothing...

I looked at the site stats, all 40 de-indexed! WHOA! What happened?

I sent my client an email asking if he was doing anything I should know about. Guess what? He sent paid traffic to one of his own (not the ones we built) sites to "kick it up a bit".

Google's response? Goodbye everything, including all the sites that were built 100% white-hat all the way.

SHEESH!!! Some people just never learn.

What kind of paid traffic did he send? Were all the sites on the same shared hosting account?

Tough break man, sorry to hear this!

You know those banners that advertise 10,000 clicks for $10? Yeah, one of those. Man, what was he thinking? Well, I retired his IP and removed all his ads. I told him that he can try to get the sites included back in the index, but hey, 40 sites will take a lot of convincing. Fortunately, we only build sites that can pass a manual review so that won't be an issue. Still, that was so stupid.

Were these Adsense sites? How did google know all the sites were owned by the same person and why did they de index all the sites?

That does not sound correct. Are you sure all sites were not either listed in the same Adwords or Google Webmaster account?

Greedy. Thats why I'm teaching myself how to do make niche sites before I outsource it so I can understand what to do and to not do.

This is a good lesson though in that the best way to get good rankings is by good SEO and never ever by spamming anything to a main domain. Google probably thought he slipped up one time and decided he was doing this to all of his sites.

Greed can do serious damage. This should be a lesson to all who are on the fence about semi-bluefart techniques. Big G-won't stand for it!

Does Google say they will deindex sites with paid or crap traffic?
I can understand this being against Adsense TOS and the Adsense acct is banned

but to deindex all the sites?
what if they had not been running Adsense? I guess there would have been no way for google to know about the sites otherwise,
and probably the ONLY reason they looked at the sites to begin with is because they were running adsense
