How effective are backlinks from free blogs etc like weebly.com, blogspot.com, webs.com, wikidot.com, webnode.com etc ?

I mean if I sing up, and publish unique articles with 2 links inside per article in natural way. Maybe I have to ping some urls later if Google does not find them.

Links from the web 2.0 are quite powerful PROVIDED they are contextual links coming from within relevant unique quality content. If you copy articles from somewhere else to those sites, you cannot expect a boost in rankings.

So make sure to post only quality content related to the topic of the site you are linking to. You can also include pictures or videos on these blogs, which has been working for me quite well lately.

Pinging may not be enough to index these backlinks, so if you cannot get them indexed, build some backlinks to those backlinks, which helps get them indexed and also strengthens them which in turn strengthens your main money site.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I know it's better to write unique and good articles but why not to use well spun articles? They are unique, useful and the natural text (not in English).

Backlinks are important to your website, no backlinks, no traffic, when you get backlinks make sure you get good quality backlinks and mix follow and no follow links. Backlinks is a lot of work, but it is worth it for your website.

Because depending on how it's spun it may not survive an algo check or even a manual review.

If the blog/website has a good traffic and decent PR then your backlinks will help you. Better check also not to have a huge amount of outbound to that page where you will but your backlinks. Also stay away from Farm-Backlink-Sites.

  • Backlinks are fundamental to SEO & your site's rankings. Backlinks from free blogs etc like weebly.com, blogspot.com, webs.com, wikidot.com, webnode.com are very effective (these sites have a high PR & Google favors social networking sites), especially if they are dofollow backlinks.

The issue with the web 2.0 sites is that there's some work to be done to get those pages/links indexed. But with the indexed, unique and quality content with the contextual link in it it could move you to a higher positions in SERP.

I think quality of backlink is also a deciding factor. If you sign up and you have a new blog then it would not have good rankings. And backlinks from these new blog would not be so effective.

It depends how frequently those pages are crawled by Google. First check others' post on these sites. If they are being cached by Google on time, only then you should submit your content there. Well, blogger is good, as its Google's own properly is easily cached by Google crawlers.

As others are saying, backlinks from such free blogs can certainly help. I'd add that they are best used as one part of an overall backlinking strategy. Think how backlinks would be made if they were entirely "natural" (ie. made by the public), there would be a variety of different types of backlinks from different types of sites. The more natural your backlinks look to the search engines, the more good they will do you, and as someone else mentioned, you can backlink your backlinks, further improving your results.

For some detailed free info on this, goto the site in my Sig., and click on "Free Downloads" where there is a 26-page PDF document on using backlinks effectively, which might be of interest to you.

Back links certainly help.No two opinions on that. The websites you mentioned have good alexa and PR in general so it will definitely add on to your rank. I agree with Chris on the fact that the more natural they look, the better it would be for your website..

So long as there's unique content surrounding the link, then it's all comes down to PR and OBL, generally speaking backlinks are everything in SEO, I've ranked sites for keywords that aren't even present on the entire site! that's how much emphasis goes on backlinks in Google's algorithm..

I made about 30 unique articles with 2 backlinks and published each of them on different free blog services like zoomshare, insanejournal etc two weeks ago. Every article has backlinks and they are mostly indexed by Google.

No effect at all. I know it takes time but I think that making those articles with backlinks was only waste of time. What do you think?

backlinks from those 2.0 websites are really good. You can use all those 2.0 websites for link wheel which is an effective backlink strategy.

    Here some idea:

    1. weebly give one link for website pages and other link for blogspot page
    2. blogspot give one link for website page and other link for squidoo page
    3. squidoo give one link for website page and other link for weebly page and complete the wheel.

    Ranked #1 purely with web2.0s.

This does not mean anything, as in which backlinks are stronger/weaker.

However, it means that web2.0s work .

Thanks for your replies. Yes I know it's better to write unique and good articles but why not to use well spun articles? They are unique, useful and the natural text (not in English).
Well spun content - with emphasis on WELL SPUN, works just fine provided the articles are genuinely unique. Check with copyscape first to be sure. I like to wait for one article to be indexed first before putting up the second spun article to test with copyscape that the second is seen as unique compared to the second article.

Of course this takes time, which is why I like to create at least 5 (or more) well spun articles on any given topic for back linking with web 2.0 and free blogs. This way I can put 5 articles up at once.

As mentioned above, be CERTAIN they are unique. It may take a few months for the link juice from those articles to really kick in, time is a factor.

It is also a good idea to backlink those web 2.0/free blogs really well to maximize effects. Using a mass submission gig from fiverr using AMR or the similar, or do them yourself, this will really maximize the strength of the links. I actually find this to be a fairly powerful linking strategy, especially if you do a lot of it. You can create 50 web 2.0/free blogs and back link each one of them and you will definitely build up some power. If you add in other link building ti the mix, then you can certainly expect really big shifts in rankings.

As an added note to my previous comment. If with free blogs like wordpress.com and blogger, you put together a blog with 5 to 10 articles on it, and got over a 100 backlinks to them, and keep adding a few links each month after that, they can often get to a page rank of 1 or 2, whihc is a big help since the links are going to your money site from 100% related sites. This works great.

Even better, create 5 individual blogger blogs, and put 5 to 10 posts on each and interlink them, to create internal link juice. Do the same with wordpress.com (the free version). However only interlink between the same platform, don't link wheel by linking between wordpress and blogger blogs.

This can be a lot of work, but it can make the difference between jumping over the competitions head, particuarly with medium competition sites.

If they are cached by Google on time, the only way you should submit your content. So, the blog is good, as Google's own right is likely to be the Google crawler cache.

As blog hold detailed content and people always like to read such content source which provide complete information for their search. And now after the panda update, blog and social media plays major role in the results. so if you make use of blog to get backlinks and if you promote your blog on social media then it be more helpful for you to get more backlinks and results.
