Start with lower PR backlinks first?

I have a few local websites, 2 are under 4 months old where 2 are 1.5 years and older.

I haven't been doing backlinking on them. If I start with high PR backlinks first would that hurt the websites? Or should I be building a base of lower PR backlinks first?

Thanks

It's really tough for high PR backlinks to hurt your site. The only way your site will be hurt is if you are being spammy with your backlinks.

Google discourages all types of manual backlinking except for a few social bookmarks to get the word out. They want all links to be "natural".

But, we all know that whoever has the most/best backlinks "wins" in most cases, so you have to join the party if you want to compete. If your competition is manually creating backlinks (and you can bet they are), then you need to do it better than them.

So, don't focus too much on PR alone. Try to get a variety of PR, no-follow, do-follow, bookmarks, articles, blog posts, etc. All of these will help over time. And try to look as "natural" as possible.

The higher pr site the better!

The only for backlinks to really hurt your site is to just blast away with senuke or something like.

I'm gonna start selling common sense on this forum... Nothing against the original poster, but just think logically about this. Same thing applies for "link velocity".

You have a one day old site, and put some killer original research about something. Whatever. You share it with your friends on facebook, and somehow the editor of the NY Times gets a hold of it.

He says, "holy crap, I've got to share this with the Times readers". He places a link to your 1 day old site.

Then 50,000 others do the same over the course of the next week.

I'm sure Google is going to think your site is a piece of S$(T if that happens and penalize you.

No, it can never hurt your site by making back links from high pr websites in the starting. But always try to be genuine and never react like a spammer.

It depends on what kinds of backlinks you mean here, if you buy those links, well, yes, they definitely would put your websites in danger. But if you get high PR backlinks via legal ways such as article submitting, Press Release or Guest Posts, it would be OK.

If I were you, you should start with high PR backlinks, it gives you more exposure and a nice boost to the SERPs rather than the low PR links.

    Good Luck

Make your link building naturally, Get mixture of no pr, high pr, low pr or etc along with dofollow and nofollow backlinks - That really make sense in the eye of Google - However as far as your site is so young, do not get massive backlinks within short period, spread them for more weeks. As well as, use various related anchor texts and try to get links to your inner pages - That will help you

Literally it is all about how you plan your strategy to get good backlinks. However, in fact the good backlinks come from High PR sites but but low pr sites also give quality links depending upon the nature of the content.
