Let's say I have got 50 pages in my website and 50 keywords for each page.
Should I try to get backlinks to all my pages and keywords or only for important pages?

No you shouldn't try to optimize everypage but it'll do you a great service to have a page with all the links on them (site map). The only reason to get backlinks to those pages are if they are very relevant and if they offer your visitors value. Lots of people give backlinks to all of their pages but in reality some pages are just irrelevant to their content of the main website. So make sure you backlink all your important pages. A site map for the robots will handle everything else. Also it's good to anchorlink from different pages of your site to different pages on your site.

    Good luck.

Well, if you are targeting 50 keywords on different pages, then a good practice would be to optimize all pages. As you know, Google loves uniqueness.

Secondly, I am assuming many of your keywords (and variations) would be available throughout your website. So an effective strategy would be to target pages that you think can convert well or that you want to use as a landing page(s).

Optimize the pages you want ranked.

If you don't want the page ranked, don't optimize. It's still possible that an un-optimized page could still rank in the SERPs, but that's just luck & extremely low competition.

Sure it is a good idea to optimize all your pages. A lot of people receive tons of traffic from having lots of pages optimized with long tail keywords.

For the back links, you don't really have to build links on all your pages except if its worth it.
