        It's simple enough

Ethical. Building back links by asking natural means, non-spammy methods, doing this in a good manner to rank higher. Ranking by using white hat only methods, grey hat is fine too.

Un-ethical. Building back links by spamming forums, blogs, and other websites to rank higher. Using Black Hat methods to rank with no regard for who you are spamming to. Using quick methods to rank to #1, while having no consideration for those who have worked hard to rank for years using the right way. Basically cheating your way to the top to promote your website, most of these websites try to capture leads and product sales.

There is no ethics in SEO. No moral category at all. How could writing hundreds of 10-minute junk articles be more "ethical" than content cloaking or keyword stuffing? It simply IS NOT. It's simply a matter of what that self-proclaimed deity likes and what methods are more risky.

Nailed it. There is no "unethical" aspect of SEO unless you're hacking sites, injecting links using exploits, etc. There is either "human done" or "automated".

If you're doing it for youself, you know your comfort levels. If you're doing it for a client make sure they're alright with it, and then do it up. It's all about what works and what doesn't, that's all it is.
