Will adding something to the title affect ranking?

Hello!
I have a Chinese restaurant client that I have ranked #1 in Google
for 3 keywords: Chinese Restaurant (location), Chinese food (location) and Chinese take out (location).

The title of the website is: Name of city and state, zip code, Chinese Restaurant.

The owner would like the name of the restaurant in the title so that it shows up on Google. If I add the name of the restaurant, will it affect the rankings?

Thanks for your help,

Kathy

The words at the beginning of the title have more influence than the words at the end. So if you add the name at the end there shouldn't be a penalty for the existing keywords.

You can also just test it with one of the keywords before you roll out the change to the others.

Thanks for the advice, Maraun. I'm not sure how to test it with just one of the keywords! I was just going to go to the WP back office and change the
title in the General Settings.

    Kathy,

It shouldn't have too much of an effect at all, it would only be minor and if you have achieved #1 ranking through high quality link building a small on page change should not knock it off page one.

I would add the name of the restaurant at the start personally as it will appear more genuine and there is little chance of a ranking change as an effect of this.

Thank you very much. I was hoping to be able to put the name of the restaurant first.

      I'll go do it now!

      Happy New Year!
      Kathy

You could always add the name of the restaurant at the beginning and leave the rest as is...for example.

Jokabi Chinese Restaurant in Name of city and state, zip code, Chinese Restaurant.

That should make everyone happy...including the search engines.

Just like Maruan said, if you have to change the title, add it at the end might be a proper way. But still, we won't know what will happen unless you changed it.

It would be better if you add the name on between or end of the previous word.Even that it may effects your ranking.I advice you not to change keyword as far as possible.

I've personally changed titles on my sites before but there isn't much of a huge difference if you change it.. As long as you keep your kw in there
